Lena's: POV
After dropping Stef and Frankie off at the airport
For their flight to San Francisco. Ariana and I stopped by tasty treats, to check up on how things were going
We pulled up to the bakery and got out the car
Ariana and I went inside and saw customers were standing in line, l didn't see Chris no where in sight
Asia was wiping down tables. Emory was bagging up orders at the register, everything looked to be in order
I headed towards my office unlock the door. Turned on the lights, Ariana climbed up on the couch and sat down
I walked over to my desk and took a seat. And turned on my laptop, as l waited for it to load up. Mommy can l have a blue berry muffin and some milk please, Ariana asks me
Okay babe in just a few minutes. Lena replies
I check my email and I have a message from a woman who wants to order a whole sheet cake. She's left all her contact info in the email, l respond back by asking
What kinda of cake and did she went. Lena asked when did she needed by, and sent the message. Lena got up to go get Ariana a blue berry muffin and some milk. She washed her hands first, and then went to get her daughter
Her favorite muffin from out the display case. She put on a pair of plastic gloves on. Lena use the tongs to pick up the muffin and put on to the small plate, Lena went on about her business. She went into the kitchen to get some milk poured it in the cup, Asia came in and saw her boss
Oh hi Ms. Lena l didn't know you were coming in the bakery, Asia said. It's nice to see you to Asia
I decided to drop in and check on things, you never know
When I might popped up unless you guys are hiding something that you don't want me to find out Lena says to Asia. I didn't mean like that Ms. Lena we all been doing good, Asia knew her boss didn't mess around when it came to her bakery. Well l'm glad to hear that
Where's Chris at cause his name was on the schedule for this week, Asia don't lie to me please. I just wanna know we're are employees at, Asia looked directly into Lena's caring light brown eyes. Lena questions, honestly Ms. Lena, the last time we seen Chris was the day after Thanksgiving, Asia replied. Thank you Asia for being truthful with me Lena says to Asia. She didn't have the energy to lose her cool cause Ariana was in her office
Asia didn't know what else to say so the young girl went by to her task. Lena just stood in the kitchen confused
She couldn't understand what was going on with Chris
He wasn't like him not to call out and not come into work
Lena knew she had to be professional at work. Lena went to take Ariana her snack, sorry baby mommy took so long coming back. Lena sat the saucer and cup down on the table, Lena said to Ariana. It's okay mommy thank you for my blue berry muffin and milk, Ariana States
Lena goes back over to her desk and sat down
She unlocks her filing cabinet to pull out Chris's file
Lena scans over his application. After a minute
She writes down the number from the paper
Lena puts everything back in the folder and placed back in the drawer and locked it up, Lena uses the office phone to call the number listed. She needed answers
Lena quickly dialed the number, she put the phone to her ear. And the phone rings once then someone picked up the receiver and said hello, yes l'm looking for Chris Scott
Lena said. Who is this the old woman said, my name is Lena Adams and l'm Chris's boss at the bakery. Lena Stated, yeah he's told me a lot about you. The lady Stated
Chris is pleasure to work with, l was just calling to see if everything was okay cause he was supposed come into work. Lena explains, when Chris comes in I'll tell him that you were looking for him you have a blessed day
Ms. Adams the woman says to me, you do the same
Lena responds as she hung up the phone. Lena saw Ariana coloring in her book, Lena looks at the time on the wall
It was going on 12:30 in the afternoon. Stef and Francesca should be in San Francisco by now, Lena does a little more work before she leaves the bakery. She writes down a list for what she needs from home goods store, Ariana baby why don't you try and use the bathroom before we leave
Mommy has some errands to run. Lena says to her daughter, alright mommy Ariana begins putting her things back in her bag. and gets off the sofa then Ariana heads to the restroom, Lena straightens up her desk
She logs off the computer. Chris's grandma sounded strange over the phone, Lena tries not to worry to much
It was something about the conversation made her feel
On edge. She put the feeling in the back of her mind
Lena didn't want in to deep in her employees personal business, it wasn't her place. Ariana came out the bathroom. I'm all done mommy the little girl said
Now mommy needs to go, Lena heads to the bathroom herself. She closes the door and does what she needs to do
Lena washes her hands over the sink, and looks at herself in the mirror. She fixes up her hair, and comes out
Lena sees Ariana sitting down. She grabs her purse from out the drawer, Lena makes sure she has everything before leaving out the door. She shuts off the light
Lena locks the office, Lena takes Ariana's hand in hers
They begin walking up towards the front of the bakery
Okay Emory and Asia l'm heading out. When you leave later on this evening, please set the alarm Lena said to Emory. Hi Ariana Asia greeted her bosses daughter
Hi Ariana spoke, Emory l probably be there again on Saturday morning. If any orders come in write them down, a customer emailed wanna a whole sheet cake
Asia l need you to do the inventory and check if any more supplies. And text me what we need and please write things everything down in the inventory book, Lena States in a stern voice that she meant business, neither girl didn't want to disappoint her, cause Lena gave them a chance to work with her. Okay Ms. Lena l'll get right on it
Asia replies, they both watched Lena walk out the door
