Her face was all sweaty and strands of hair stuck on the sides of her face. Seeing the love of his life squirming in pain,Vetri felt miserable. He carefully pushed aside the hairs and dabbed the sweat from her face.

"Mrs.Abhi, nalla push pannunga..."

Her eyes was watery due to the pain. Vetri took her hand into his and caressed her head lovingly.

V: Please da chellam...unnala mudiyum...en kaiya pudichiko...nalla push pannu...😰

Squeezing his hand she gave it all her might and pushed, crushing her husband's knuckles in the process.

V: Aaaaaa!!!

"Neenga yean sir kathureenga?"

Abhi dropped her head back onto the pillow. Vetri flexed his fingers.

A: Sorry purushh....nijama ennala mudiyala...I can't do this anymore...

He showed her his hand again. Groaning, she held it and gave a push.

"Very good Mrs.Abhi you're doing well..."

Abhi gasped. Unable to tolerate the pain, she began weeping.

A: Vetri, rombha mudiyala'pa....sethudalam pola irukku...😭😭

Seeing her like that Vetri felt helpless. He hugged her head to his chest. Abhi pressed her face on his chest letting her tears flow. He stroked her head. Tears cascaded down his cheek.

V: Naan enna'da pannuven...un valiya paadhi kooda share panna mudiyaadhavana  nikkiren...nee ippadi kashtapadrathu ennala parka mudiyala....Doctor, operation panni pappa'va veliya edukka mudiyaatha?

"Indha stage'la adhu mudiyaathu Mr Vetri. Avanga push panni dhan aaganum..."

Abhi was almost going to pass out. The nurses tapped her cheeks to keep her alert. Vetri took a calming breath and rubbed away his tears. Though he could not share her physical pain, he could give her mental strength. He reminded himself to stay strong.

Vetri kissed her and caressed her head.

V: Abhi, please'da...nee evalo strong'aana ponnu enakaga ellarayum ethirthu ninnava nee...unnalaa mudiyum...you're almost there...namma pappa'vukaga da...don't give up!

He let her scratch him, crush his hand and do whatever she felt like. He did everything he could in his power to ease her.

Though physically drained, his words of encouragement and soothing gestures gave her  fortitude and she regained her energy. After a few strong pushes,

"Waaaaahhhhh"

The room went silent except for the wails of the newborn. Abhi fell back in exhaustion still holding on to Vetri's hand.

Tears rolled down his cheeks hearing the cries of his baby.

"Congratulations Mr.&Mrs. Vetri! Ungaluku azhagana penn kuzhanthai poranthirukka!!"
