Gregor opened his eyes. They were on the top of a rolling moor, with miles of peaceful grassland surrounding them. He had expected Herobrine's palace to be in a more ominous place, and not this small Eden.
But here it was. With one glance across the moor, Gregor could see the palace, dark and looming. He remembered back to when he had been trapped in Herobrine's small fortress with the HH after a skirmish. He'd thought that was large, but this was ten times that.
"Come on, you. Stop looking at the view, you'll get plenty of that later," said Stevia as she grabbed his arm and forced him to his feet.
Turning around, Gregor saw a small camp with maybe five or so wool tents. In a tiny pen sheep and cattle grazed.
Jane, Ridge, Ben, Grace, and Lora were talking with a couple of warriors clad in golden armor.
"So are we going to get armored up? I can't stand another moment Herobrine's in power," he said to his friends.
They all looked to him, but Jane refused to meet his eyes.
"Okay," said Ben, hefting a diamond sword into his hands. A small part of Gregor warmed. When he first joined the HH, Ben was the first one to make him feel at home. Apparently that hadn't changed. No matter the circumstance, Ben would be there.
The sun was setting over the golden hills. The Warriors of Notch and the HH were assembling into their squadrons, ready to lead the attack.
It was night, so little did they know that Herobrine was once again taking over Ender's body.
Jane and Gregor were the only ones beside the guards of the WoN that weren't with everyone else, about to go into war.
They were standing at the top of the moor, together, without anyone else. Gregor's eyes lazily glanced down to her hand, before moving up to her face.
"I'm sorry," he said. They hadn't spoken since they were back at the tavern Stevia took them to.
"No," she said, which shouldn't have taken him by surprise. Gregor knew Jane hated letting someone else take fault.
"Listen, if we die-"
"Don't say that."
"We've died before, maybe it'll happen again," said Gregor. He played with the hilt of his sword and his armor suddenly felt heavy on his body.
"No it won't." Jane seemed determined not to let him believe such a thing. But they were going into war. It could happen.
"I just want us to die as friends," said Gregor.
Jane nodded, understanding what he meant. "And maybe... if we do survive, than maybe we can talk about being... a little bit more."
Gregor also nodded, but inside he was exploding. The explosion deep inside him was leaving him in a million pieces that floated up and down the moor.
