My bow was loaded, Ben was lying on the ground. I didn't know what to do.

The crowd was silent, offering me no help at all. Not that I really wanted their suggestions.

"Gregor," Ben strained to say, "I mean Ender, don't shoot me. Forgive me. I'm not the dude I used to be. You can lead the Resistance. Just let me live."

I released my arrow. It hit a tree a few blocks away from Ben.

"You can be second in command," I said.

"Herobrine killed my family too," Ben told Jane. The night air around them was chilly. Lora was asleep on the ground, since no sheep had been found to make beds. Torches surrounded the place they had set up for "camp". "Lora and I just barely ran away from him. Your textbook describes the man I saw. Glowing white eyes, uses fire. It was him. He killed my parents."

"I can't believe someone can be so mean!" Jane said, her squeaky 6 year old voice filling the night.

"I hate him,' Ben agreed. "I hate Herobrine."

"It's like you're a Herobrine Hater," Jane laughed.

"We can both be Herobrine Haters," Ben suggested.

"I like that idea."

Present day

Becoming the leader of a Resistance I had just barely joined was a bit of a strange feeling.

Some members reluctantly helped me into a captain's quarters, got me new armor, and gave me a schedule of meetings for the week.

I enjoyed the freedom of getting to do what I wanted since I had no family to take care of, but I also wanted to be tied down to someone. Frankly, I wanted a friend.

Dinner was at a special hall for the highest ranking members of the Resisitance. For a rebel force, this place was very organized.

The only people that ate in the leaders' hall were me, Ben, Ridge, and Ben's sister Lora.

"So, uh, Ender," Ridge began, "a squad of Herobrine's men have created an underground base and our scouts suspect that they will attack soon."

"How big is the squad?" I asked.

"50 men and 2 drills about."

"From what you know, are our warriors stronger or weaker than the average soldier of Herobrine?"

Ben looked away from me as I spoke. I sort of felt bad for him. He used to be an amazing leader and now he was lost.

I made a vow that I'd try to help him become the person he used to be.

"We're about the same strength, but our soldiers are smarter," Ben spoke up. "We have morale."

I nodded. "Good. I'll devise a plan with your strategists, if you have some."

Lora talked for the first time. "We're the strategists."

I smiled. "Then let's begin."

The next morning was the time to prepare myself for the battle. I wasn't not going to fight.

Ben told me that there was a personal armory for the high ranked officials. I thanked him and set out to find it.

As I walked down the tunnels of HQ, I heard voices coming out from an empty room. I stood by the door and tried to listen.

".. tonight?" One asked.

"Yeah, he'll be exhausted from the battle. If he's not dead."

"Awesome, I'll meet you there."

The door began to creak open and I ran as fast as I could and took a turn into a different tunnel. Whoever was plotting this didn't need to know that I knew.

"Ender, right? Are you looking for the leaders' armory?" A voice asked from behind me.

I turned around and saw a blond boy a bit shorter than and looking a few years younger than me. He was walking towards me.

"My name is Joseph and I'm the leader weapons master," he said.

"Oh yeah," I siad, still flustered. Now that I thought about it, Ridge did seem to have said something about him.

"Good. Let's get you suited up then, shall we?"
