The Beginning of the End Part III

I was dreaming. It had been a little while since I'd dreamed, and now here I was.

I was in an empty room, save one person on the other side. It was a person I knew.

"Hey, Jane," I said.

She nodded and started walking towards me. For a second I wondered why she didn't say anything, but the thought soon escaped me.

"Hey, Ender," she said softly.

I was nodding my head for some reason, but I didn't get to finish the movement of my head before Jane's sword was buried in my stomach.

. . .

Pain was the only thing that greeted me when I woke up. That and Gregor. He was standing above me with a hand over his mouth.

"What- what happened?" I tried to say.

"Ender! You- you were possessed by Herobrine and I almost killed you," said Gregor. He sheathed "Herobrine's Sword" and began apologizing over and over again.

"But, Gregor," I interrupted him. "Why didn't you finish the job?"

Gregor's face went pale. "What do you mean? Finish the job? You wanted me to kill you?"

"But then you would've saved minecraft. Herobrine would be dead." The words fought to get out of my mouth. But what they fought against was the pain.

"Ender, you're delusional, you need to sleep."

But I was one step ahead of him as I drifted off to sleep.

. . .

The battle was difficult. Jane's arm had never been so exhausted. Her sword was driving through countless amounts of Herobrine's warriors.

She didn't know where in the palace she was, just that if they won this battle she and Gregor could "talk." And even though she was only 13 she felt as if she were older. In fact, she felt like she had waited a lifetime to talk to Gregor about having a relationship.

At the moment she was battling viciously against one of Herobrine's soldiers. It normally took her less than a minute to kill one of them, but this one was stronger. They were in a courtyard with the sunrise above their heads. As they fought they weaved around blackened trees and empty fountains.

Their swords clashed every second, maybe even twice a second. Jane kept trying to swipe at the soldier's legs, but he knew what she was trying to do. Even so, he didn't make any advances. He only played defense.

Jane smirked. Offense is the best defense, she thought. After nearly a minute of going for his legs, she took him off guard and jabbed her sword into his chest. So used to blocking his legs, the soldier's sword didn't protect him in time. His body felt with a thud to the ground. Pulling her sword out, Jane continued into the heart of the castle.

The corridors were confusing and hard to navigate, but she knew that was what she had to do. Passing a few Warriors of Notch, she decided to aid them in their fight. Thirty minutes and a few scratches later, she followed them, not knowing where they were going.

. . .

I woke up in a bed, my body not feeling as terrible as before.

"It's noon," said somebody. I looked up to see Gregor over my bed.

"We've begun to discover Herobrine's plan. Remember how he released the Enderdragon? Well he's creating a spell that will let him control the dragon. If he does this, all of Minecraft will be destroyed."

"Excuse me? Where am I? How did you find this out?"

"We took a few of his soldiers hostage. Listen, Ender, we don't have much time. And there's more I haven't told you. We think he's using Maria and Art, your friends, to create the spell."

My breath hitched, and the completely and totally beaten up by my friend feeling came back.

"Also, we're pretty sure your body can't survive the transformation into Herobrine tonight. So if we don't kill him by nightfall, you'll be dead."

That was news.

. . .

Bradley was terrified. He, Braden, and Gregor were in charge of killing Herobrine while Ben, Rax, and Ridge were going to find Maria and Art.

Before he had transformed, Ender had told him to kill him. But that wouldn't work if Ender died when he wasn't possessed by Herobrine. So they had to kill Herobrine today if they wanted Ender to survive.

They were sneaking through the castle, geared up in the best weaponry this side of Minecraft. The gamma tracker would be useless to find him, since his entire castle was made of it.

So they were going the old fashioned way.

Braden happened to be an excellent tracker, something he'd developed after years of hunting in the woods.

"He went this way," he said, leading Gregor and Bradley around a corner.

Braden couldn't be closer to the truth. When they rounded the corner, Bradley found that Herobrine was waiting for them at the end of the hall, his empty white eyes seeming to drive into his soul.

"Hello, Braden, Bradley, Gregor. It's nice to see you all again," he said.
