{ever wonder where I write all of this? Check it out}
No one slept very well that night. We'd just lost Rax, one of our best and most experienced warriors, all to a stupid grudge.
Bradley seemed to take it pretty well. He managed to keep his dignity during the next mroning.
Silently, we set out from camp as soon as possible.
I had Braden lead the way. He and Art studied the maps as they walked.
The morning itself was pretty calm, whish scared me. The oak forest had faded away into a heavily forested jungle.
"Ew," Maria said when we were not even 5 minutes into it. "Braden, how long does this jungle last?"
"Until this map ends. And the rest of them," the archer replied, switching through his hot bar, maps flashing in his hands.
"You don't have one that shows the mountain range? Moron?" Art asked.
"Moran," Braden poitely corrected. "And no. All my maps just lead to the directions of the mountains."
"Then let's find a trading post and get a map that shows where it is," Bradley said curtly, walking ahead.
A part of me wanted to hug the blue boy, knowing that he was struggling. But I also knew that he might not welcome it from me.
To distract myself, I pulled out my sword and hacked at the nearby vines. By now we'd all armored up again, so by my standards, we were a pretty threatening force.
"Where's the nearest trading post, Braden?" Maria asked while playing with Sasha.
"Not very far north," Braden replied. "We just have to go west a bit. We should arrive by sundown if we have no distractions."
"That's good news, right?" Art confirmed.
Braden nodded. "I guess." He must not have been paying much attention or something beacuse two seconds later he slammed directly into a jungle tree.
...
There have bene times where Ben's been shocked. He'd watched his parents' deaths, seen his home go up in flames, watched as Herobrine took over the world.
But no amount of surprises could ever have prepared Ben for the shock that he now felt.
His whole body was cold, as if he were outside in a snowstorm. His chest felt compressed, like he was contantly being kicked in the torso. He even stumbled back a few blocks.
"G- Gregor?" Ben wheezed.
His friend, the one that should have been dead, rushed forwards to help Ben up. That confirmed it for Ben. He was real. Gregor wasn't some illusion.
"It's going to be okay, Ben," Gregor's calm voice whispered in his ear as he slowly blacked out.
"The boy, second in command of the Resistance, is he asleep?"
"Yes, Lord," Gregor reported, looking at the faint glow his master gave against the night sky below them. "He is fully sedated.
The man looked down the slopes of the mountian Emniss. "Yes, that's good."
"Does that mean-"
"Yes. It's time to get the others."
Gregor looked around at the lower peaks of the surrounding mountains, his blue eyes electric againt the dark. She would be back. He would make her as powerful as he was. "Jane. I'm coming for you, Jane."
...
Braden crumpled to the jungle floor.
"Braden!" Art exclaimed, rushing towards him.
"Bradley!" I called to the warrior. Notch, that guy walks fast, I thought.
Maria and Art were crouched around Braden who stumbled to his feet. "Stupid tree," he grumbed.
I laughed, knowing he was okay.
Bradley joined s. "What happened? I miss too much."
"Braden bumped into a tree, but he's-" Art stopped midsentance as Braden interrupted her.
"Was this here before?" He asked.
We all turned to where he was pointing.
On the trunk of the tree he had hit, an untidy scrawl had been crudely carved.
Large slash marks surrounded it, along with blood that was too dry to be Braden's.
As for the message, it was unfinished and read, "I don't know what happened to-"
And then it ended off.
