Australia was exhausting. Nola wished she could see more of where they were travelling around. She was so excited for Charles with such a good result, hopefully it went well tomorrow. Nola changed into comfier clothes and made herself a drink. She didn't know when Pierre was coming if at all, he hadn't text Nola at all.
Pierre got out of his car in the garage of the hotel Nola was staying at. He had quickly gone back to his hotel, showered and changed before driving here. He couldn't wait to see her. He walked out of the lift and took his phone out of his pocket, texting Nola.
Knock knockPierre stood outside the door waiting for her to open it. When she did, he looked her up and down, even in tracksuit bottoms she was the hottest girl he had ever laid eyes on. When she opened it he jumped in at her messing about and Nola nearly went flying.
"Still as hyper now as you were as a kid then" Nola said to him laughing as she shut the door behind Pierre. He laughed aswell
"Hey" he kicked off his shoes and came back over towards Nola and pulled her into a hug, She smiled as her head buried into his chest, Pierre smiled when her arms went round him. "Let's watch a movie" he spoke. Nola loved his voice, his voice was just... she couldn't understand how in a matter of weeks she had gone from a hidden away guilt ridden person, to literally melting over everything Pierre said or did. He had this affect on her, she couldn't explain it. She had never looked at Pierre in this light before, he had always been a friend, now that was not the case.
"I love that you're French. It can be so exhausting having to speak English to most people" Nola said as she walked over to the bed, trying not to fall over or embarrass herself. She didn't even know why she was so worried it's not like she was a clumsy person anyway
"I was just about to say the same thing! It's why I always loved racing with Charles, knowing I could speak to him easier than everyone else" he sat down next to Nola.Nola didn't know whether to lay with him, cuddle him, sit up, or stay with a space between them. She was overthinking so much, they had literally cuddled on the plane here! But this time they were truly alone, not in public, not with other people. Literally Nola and Pierre, alone, behind a closed door in a hotel room.
"What do you want to watch?" Pierre asked, switching off the main lights so it was just the tv on.
"Anything" Nola said to him, he put his arm out and behind her, and then looked at her when she didn't move.
"Are you going to stay over there all night or?" He asked, Nola smiled and got under the blanket and cuddled into him, she got brave and put her head on his chest and his arm came round and rested on her hip as he flicked through the tv to find a movie. He felt settled, nothing was better than laying with Nola.
"I didn't know whether to cuddle or not"
"So you can kiss me out of the blue, but can't cuddle me?"
"I got cocky earlier, that's gone now" Nola said
"You used to be so confident as a kid" he mumbled
"Yeah well that changed. Not used to having movie nights and hiding behind trailers with a boy" She laughed, he laughed as well
"You better get used to it. I want all the late nights and secret meetings" he said, Nola smiled into his chest. She wanted that to. She wasn't sure people knew things, it hadn't occurred to her yet, especially after their fairly public first kiss, but it almost felt fun that were the only two that knew about the second, third, and fourth kiss. Nola looked up at Pierre and his eyes sparkled from the light reflecting off the screen, "You're so beautiful" he whispered
"When did you becoming such a charmer?"
"I always was, you just never looked at me that way" he said, a reminder from the conversation he overhead earlier. "I also couldn't when we were younger, boy code and all that" he said to Nola. She wasn't sure if he was referencing Charles, or Anthoine, or both, but she got the idea
"And no boy code exists now?"
"Do you want me to tell you something? I don't want to upset you" he said. Nola nodded, she was not sure if she wanted to hear it or not, but deciding to do so anyway, "as kids, I liked you and so did Anthoine, he knew I liked you, and I knew he liked you. He didn't want to do anything because of me, but I told him to go for it, because I knew how close you were and I knew you liked him and because all I wanted was for him to be happy. And as I said before, if all I was meant to be was your friend, then that was good enough for me, as long as you were happy and he was happy" Nola couldn't help but tear up. She tried to hide it. "I'm sorry, I didn't meant to upset you"
"No you didn't, I'm not upset. I'm okay. It's just this whole time I've felt guilty because I didn't want to tarnish what I had with him and I was still holding on and thinking I can't because you were his friend. What I didn't know is he already knew you liked me" Nola said, "it feels like now, it's almost okay?"
"I just want you to be happy, always. That's all I've wanted for you" I nodded, "are you happy?" She looked back up at him and smiled
"I am" her words made him smile, he was a smiley person anyway but this was more. Pierre only wanted her to be happy, and Nola was. Guilt left her, worry, fear it all left. She was just in the moment and enjoying it
"I'm glad" he said. Nola laid back down on Pierre's chest and his arm pulled her in closer as he settled on a movie. The couple sat watching, he had put something funny on so they were both laughing here and there. Nola felt more comfortable and less nervous. All snuggled up under the blanket with Pierre by her side.
