POV Tantri

The day of the next trial that my friends and I had been waiting for two weeks that seemed very long and torturous finally arrived and after the trial was declared open by the presiding judge, Stijn was allowed to summon someone to testify on the witness chair in the middle of the courtroom and now, Stijn summoned heer Pieter Cornelis de Graeff to testify.

After heer Pieter sat on the witness chair and was sworn in, Stijn was given permission by the presiding judge to ask heer Pieter a question whose face looked listless and gloomy. Could it be that he deliberately put on that face so that his testimony stating that he had mental disorder could be accepted by the panel of judges? Ah, I don't know, but if in the end the panel of judges decides that he is indeed someone who has a mental disorder, I hope what Lodewijk had predicted will be true, the panel of judges will decide to lock heer Pieter in a heavily guarded Mental Hospital.

"Mr. Pieter Cornelis de Graeff, at the trial that was held two weeks ago, you said that you had a mental disorder, correct?" said Stijn asking heer Pieter his question.

"Right." said heer Pieter giving the answer.

"First of all, I want to apologize if I might offend you with my question but, what mental illness do you have?"

"My mental illness is multiple personality disorder."

"Do you have the capacity to explain to us about your mental illness in a language that everyone here can understand?"

Heer Pieter just shook his slightly bowed head weakly, giving his answer to the question Stijn asked.

"Okay then. Miss Irine, you were the one who carried out the mental health diagnosis of mr. Pieter while he was in detention at the police base and because of that, I would like to ask you to explain to all of us in this courtroom regarding the mental illness that mr. Pieter suffers from." asked Stijn to the psychiatrist who's name is Irine, who was sitting in the chair next to the row of chairs for the panel of judges.

"The mental illness that mr. Pieter suffers from is a mental disease known as Dissociative Personality Disorder. It is a mental illness in which the sufferer of this mental illness has two separate personalities that have different attitudes and traits.

The reason of why the other personality that the sufferer of this disease appeared in the sufferers conciousness is because the sufferer has experienced a horrendous event in his life and the sufferer does not believe that this has happened to him and thus his agitated soul raises another kind of awareness to relieve the trauma and inner turmoil that is experienced by the sufferer. Sufferers of this mental illness and their other personalities appeared in their conciousness as a form of protection for the sufferer of this mental illness from things that might hurt them.

For example, a child who experienced abuse by his parents who are the people who close to him and whom loved by him dearly does not believe and refuses to believe that his beloved parents can do something vile to him and to relieve the pain that he felt in his heart after he is being abused by his parents, his mind and his heart created another personality to protect him from the pain that rose in his soul when similar events happened again.

In general, the characteristics that are most often found in someone who suffers from Dissociative Personality Disorder are, when another personality that exists within the sufferer's soul appears and takes over control of the sufferer's body, the sufferer cannot remember any events that has happened to him and to the environment around him or what his limbs have done. The term for this phenomenon in English is referred to as losing time.

The sufferer also often hears more than one voice often talking to the sufferer without the sufferer thinking or imagining anything. These sounds can also affect the sufferer's ability to think, behave and act when he is faced with certain situations that make him feel great pressure in his heart.
