POV Muhamed
Brother Lodewijk and I are still residing in one of the houses belonging to the Jalan Darah motorcycle gang. Their lieutenant helped us hide at least until the sound of police sirens and the news of the shootout between their gang and the police died down. At the same time, brother Lodewijk handed over the key of his Mercedes Cabriolet to the lieutenant who was willing to help him repair his car.
"Akang, sebelum ieu kunci abi serahin, abi bade naros. Kunaha akang hayang nolongin abi sararea. (Brother, before I hand over this key to you, I want to ask, why do you want to help us?) "
"Kanjeng putri Sofia kan atos bayar ku jasa nu abi sararea lakuin ka anjeun na, abi sarua teh memang arurang nu dicap penjahat sami masyarakat, tapi abi sarua teh boga standar teuing. (Princess Sofia has already paid for the services that we do for her, we are indeed people who are labeled as criminals by society but we also have standards.)"
"Jadi, iraha kira-kira servis mobil ieu beres jeung abi tiasa cokot balik mobil abi? (So, when my car repair will be done and I can take my car back?)"
"Wah, teu teurang pisan, mungkin teh tilu minggu dari ayeuna coba dateng lagi ka dieu. (Hm, I don't really know, maybe three weeks from now you can try to come here again.)"
"Hm, okelah, ieu kang kuncina, atur nuhun. (hm, okay brother, here is the car's key, thank you.)"
"Sami-sami. (you are welcome.)"
He handed the car keys to the lieutenant. Then the lieutenant asked us to follow him into his house.
We were directed by him to the living room and asked to sit on the sofa while waiting for Ilya, whom we had not heard from him anymore. While waiting, we watched through the news that was showing on the television which had been turned on all this time. The news broadcast was a flash news titled "Shootout Between Motorcycle Gangs and Police Members" which showed footages and images of several burning cars and several people who died on several different roads as a result of the shootout.
The police man who was interviewed by the media crew explained that this gun battle were occured between motorbike gangs and one of the special unit from the VSI's intelligence service that worked together with the police force and the police man who was being interviewed said that the police force would increase security and operations to arrest and ambush criminal acts that these motorcycle gang members had committed.
"The police and other law enforcement units if you know, some of them are as bad as us, committing crimes like us but the difference is, because they are in uniforms they are safe from the law whereas we are not."
"Yes, Kang (brother), I know."
"I don't know what kind of person you think I am, but I hope you will succeed in rescuing that person who was falsely accused."
"Aamiin, thank you for the prayer." brother Lodewijk replied.
"You're welcome."
Listening to the dialogue between brother Lodewijk and him made me realize that those who are labeled as criminals like him still have conciousness and some good in their hearts. He is indeed not an example of a good human being and he is an opportunist but atleast he still has the heart to say that what we are doing is for something that is right. I maybe have traumatic expereince with a person like him but i realize, no matter how evil humans are, there is always a litlle bit of kindness inside their heart and no matter how good humans are, there is always a little bit of bad inside them and they have done mischief in their lives even if just once. I pray that God forgive him for whatever sins he might have commited and give him the will to ask for His forgiveness.
He left us then, I heard the sound of the door opening and closing. Hallf an hour later, the sound of this house's doorbell rang several times. I heard the sound of the door opening and closing again, the lieutenant walked towards the main door of his house. A few moments later, he went back inside with someone, that someone is Ilya, we both immediately got up from our chairs and approached him.
"Ilya, how do you do? Are you ready to continue or want to rest first?" asked brother Lodewijk.
"I choose to take a break first, I'm tired of walking here, I already know the news still shows what we've done earlier. I also don't know whether we're going to be fugitives or not, I've done my best to erase my track record along with you guys, especially you guys because you guys's part are on the streets and some of your actions are recorded by many CCTVs that are installed on the streets." Ilya replied in a complaining tone.
"Well, take a break then, Kang punten (brother, excuse me), if you don't mind, we still want to rest here." asked brother Lodewijk.
"Sok, mangga (sure, go ahead)." replied the lieutenant.
"I'm going to sleep on the sofa for a bit." he asked.
He immediately went to the sofa and lay down while I and Lodewijk sat on the other two chairs.
Half an hour has passed, the time indicated that there is an hour and a half left for dawn prayer to arrive. Brother Lodewijk got up from his chair, woke up Ilya and said.
"Ilya, it will be dawn soon, we have to leave and go to the house that has been provided by mr. Erwin."
Ilya rubbed his eyes and nodded then got up. We all called the lieutenant and said goodbye to him then brother Lodewijk ordered a Grab-car service. The lieutenant escorted all of us out of his house and we waited for the car to arrive at the gate of the lieutenant's house while the lieutenant returned inside.
When our car arrived, we all got inside and asked the driver to take us to the house according to the intended address. Well, maybe this is what it feels like to be a fugitive, having to move from one place to another and leave the comfort of your home for the safety of yourself and those who you love. Damn, I guess I'll also be skipping classes for a few days. One thing that makes me feel relieved, it's all over, for now at least.
