- The reason in my novel is that there is a rule that requires the children of the Sultan's in Indonesian archipelago to leave the comfort of their house and work part-time doing menial jobs for several years is to make them know what it's like to be a commoner. - The reason there are several states that use Islamic Sharia law in Indonesia in my novel version is, because in the real world version of Indonesia there is already a province that use Islamic Sharia law, namely Aceh Province, and recently there has been news that says The province of West Sumatra will be able to apply Islamic Sharia law. West Sumatra province will be able to apply the Sharia law because Indonesian parliament had agreed to pass the law regarding legal protection of Minangkabau culture.
This news also caused Indonesia in my novel will have a few states that use Islamic Sharia law and the Sharia law is prohibited from being applied to non-Muslim citizens in those states because, in the real world Indonesia several times there have been coercion of non-Muslim school students to wear hijab, which for me is a discriminatory rule that violates the principle contained in the last verse of a chapter titled Al-Kafirun in the Al-Quran which states "for you your religion, for me my religion.".
