Apparently time moved differently in the dragon realm. Megan found this out on their eighth day. What had only been days in the dragon realm was months in the human one. It explained why dragons never seemed to age or aged slowly in her eyes. Though she wasn't sure if she'd want to stay there for good. Xaiver had taken to living with the dragons like duck to water. He'd already made friends and could even touch the dragons without worry of his powers effecting them. Dragons, it seemed, were immune to just about all magic since they themselves were created from the most ancient and pure form of it. Even Megan found herself accepted among them and had lost the title of 'The Dead One'. Daniel however was the only one being dragged behind the wagon.

While he wasn't outright hostile to his parent, he only spent time with them when they continued to heal what the dragon's hadn't been able to. It was slow going either way since his parents had decided to give him space to accept everything that had happened. Megan had even stepped back, wanting him to get over this little rut without her influence. Though she could see the effect it was having on Yvette.

Shaking her head, Megan glanced up from the book she was reading. Her thoughts were too chaotic to concentrate, or at least attempt to, on the book she'd borrowed. Instead she scanned the grassy plain for Xaiver from the shade of the tree she'd settled under. Xaiver stood a few yards away with a couple dragon teens talking. Some sat in dragon form, barely taller than six feet, and others as humans as they practiced speaking. It turned out the dragons had their own language and rarely spoke 'human speech' unless it was necessary. Most of them didn't even get the experience speaking with humans until they were old enough to leave the dragon realm for the first time. Even being genius level smart didn't help them get the correct speech patterns.

So Xaiver had volunteered to help them perfect their speech and had in turn gained friends. With how tentative he'd been at first, it wasn't hard to see they were probably the first friends he'd actually had. "You baby the boy too much."

Megan turned from watching the teens up to a purple hued dragon with sapphire eyes. Patience was the teacher to the teens, and true to her name, had the patience of a saint. Megan had liked the dragon instantly, she was no pushover and was just as large as Xander and Dellan. A rarity for female dragons since they were normally smaller in size. "He's never had a chance to be a normal kid. I just want to make sure he's okay."

Patience smiled, a flash of razor sharp teeth. "I sssee. But he can't grow if he doesssn't leave the nessst."

Megan laughed and nodded. "I know. I guess I'm just used to mothering people. I've been looking after my family for centuries like a guardian angel. It's a hard habit to break I guess."

"But ssstill a fine quality in a mate. Daniel chossse well."

Megan jerked a little, frowning down at her book. "I guess."

"You don't approve of the choice of wordsss?"

"It's not that. I just wish he'd get over the rut he put himself in. I want to help him, but he needs to figure this out himself. I don't think I'm being a good mate honestly."

Patience let out a small scoff. "A mate doesss not tell their other, but isss there to sssupoort them when they need it. You do what isss right. If you tell Daniel what to think, it will not help him in the long run."

"Yeah, but I still feel a little guilty. I'm out here enjoying the sun and company and he's fighting demons from his past alone."

"He doesss that to himssself. Hasss he asssked for your help?" At the shake of Megan's head Patience gave a nod. "Then feel no guilt. Forced help isss no help, but an annoyance."
