——————————A week had passed since Stacy had come home to find her half brother in the living room. After her parents had talked she found out from her mother that her father was going to call and see if Allen would like to come to dinner Saturday. The rest of the week Stacy had to work and so her mother ended up being the one to take Greg to play at the park with his new friend Delilah. She learned there was even talk of a play date at either house so they wouldn't always have to meet at the park, which could've been a hit or miss.
Friday morning saw Stacy waking to Greg bouncing on the bed trying to get her awake since she'd promised to take him to the park that day. It was her day off and she figured her mother wanted today to play for the dinner with her half brother. Greg all but dove off the bed when he found her awake, leaving Stacy to drag herself off for a late breakfast and to get ready. She'd barely gotten her shoes tied before Greg grabbed her hand and started to rush out the door pulling her with him. Not that it made much headway really. It was because of this that a ten minute walk turned into a five minute one.
Stacy settled in at a table as Greg hurried off to Delilah who was at present taking her turn for the slide. "Are you Greg's mother?" Stacy looked up at the voice, smiling at the teen who held a resemblance to Delilah. "I'm Dee's older sister. My mom couldn't come today and asked me to take Dee. She said a boy, or she called him an Angel actually, would be waiting for Dee."
Stacy let out what sounded like a nervous laugh. "I guess you could call me his adoptive mom. I'm Stacy." she stood and held out her hand.
"Anya," the girl said as she shook Stacy's hand before taking her seat. "Dee talks about Greg all the time. She says she's going to marry him." Stacy laughed with Anya, though it was for a different reason. Greg was ten years older than Delilah even if he didn't look or try to act it. Stacy had come to expect that much now that she'd lived with him for a few weeks.
"You're in high school?"
"Yes. Freshman this year actually. Though it doesn't start for a couple weeks."
"I see."
"Are you new to town? It's just I've never seen Greg around."
"No, well not really. I lived here when I was a kid and moved to New York. I only just came back."
"Oh? And Greg is..."
"My....boyfriends son. I'm, well, I take care of him since Lucas has to travel." Stacy could've bitten off her tongue for the bitter taste those words left in her mouth.
"Oh. Wow. I'm surprised you two aren't married then."
"Yeah well, some things just don't work out that way." she said with a small shrug while Anya nodded in understanding. After that Anya pulled out a sketchpad from her bag and Stacy a book. They fell into a comfortable silence. When a couple hours passed Anya stood and called out to her sister. Delilah and Greg came running, Dee begging her sister to let her stay longer. Stacy looked up with a smile only to pause when she found Greg staring at Anya as he clutched at his shirt. "Greg, are you ready?" she asked as she stood, finally dragging his attention away. Dee pouted as she turned, hugging Greg who automatically wrapped his arms around her.
"Baibai." Delilah called as Anya took her hand and pulled her away.
Greg seemed stunned as he stared after them. "Greg?" Stacy moved over and touched his head lightly. "What's wrong?" she watched the toddler shift, shaking his head as he took her hand and started to walk. Stacy followed with a frown, wondering what had gotten into him. When they reached the house, Stacy was surprised to find Lucas' truck on the street. She stepped inside with Greg and peeked into the living room. "Umm... Hi?" she frowned when her father and Lucas continued their glaring match. Greg huffed and moved to his toys, grabbing the remote as he passed Frank. The changing of the channel brought her father out of their match and a frown on his face.
