Stacy couldn't help but fidget as the silence dragged on. She started to grow nervous of the woman sitting at her left. "You can relax. I don't bite." Maya said, the laugh in her voice causing Stacy to give a nervous laugh.
"Sorry, I just.."
"Morningstar, I know. So, Asmodeus?"
"Who?" Stacy asked before it hit her. "Oh. He goes by his real name, Lucas. What about him?"
"You two are a couple? I heard he was a bit of a playboy."
"I...Yes, we are together. I'm actually not sure as what though. He hasn't exactly been vocal about if we're serious." Which was in a way a lie. But just because he said he loved her didn't mean he'd stay. Stacy stilled when she realized what she'd said though. "Sorry, I don't know where that came from."
"Don't worry. People tend to open up to me. Are you happy together?" she asked, throwing Stacy off. Looking back she could tell Maya was genuinely interested.
Stacy smiled as she looked down at her hands and nodded. "Yes, very much so."
"With a smile like that, he's changed since Morningstar told me about him." Maya frowned a little as she stared at her glass.
Stacy hesitated before clearing her throat. "Um, Maya," she waited until Maya looked at her before continuing. "How...I mean, what are you and Morningstar? Are you dating?" she asked, cringing after. "Shit, sorry. That's super rude to ask isn't it."
Maya smiled and shook her head. "It's okay. Everyone looked like they wanted to ask the same thing."
"You don't have to answer. It's really none of my business."
"No, it's fine. Yes, we are dating. I can see by that look, you now have a lot of questions. Go ahead. It doesn't bother me."
Stacy hesitated before finally speaking. "It's mostly one question. How and what is it like dating someone like him?"
Maya gave a quiet laugh. "Truthfully, it's....interesting. He doesn't think like most people and tends to react different. But when it's just us on his boat away from the world he's the most caring, loving man I've ever met."
Stacy blinked at the woman, surprised to hear such unconditional love in her voice. After everything she'd heard it was almost unbelievable. "Wow."
Maya gave a nod. "Everyone deserves love Stacy. And everyone deserves forgiveness should they prove they deserve it. Maybe a little jaded, but true. Love though has no bounds or limitations and can be found by anyone, anywhere. Regardless of whom they are or what they've done."
"Like Lucas."
"Yes. However, loving these men is like swimming in the ocean. It'll be deep and endless, but deadly. They tend to attract death. If you're going to love a man like them, you need to take everything that comes with them. The good and the bad. I hate to tell you, but Lucas is more of a magnet for trouble than Morningstar will ever be. People want what he has, as you've already experienced. I doubt it'll stop with this attempt."
Stacy stared at her hands on the table as she listened to Maya. She started to wonder if the woman was trying to scare her away or make sure she really planned to stay. She finally looked up, giving Maya a look that told her nothing would sway her. "I know, but it won't make me leave or love him less. I'm prepared for everything that comes. We'll stand stronger with each test we face together."
