Megan, Daniel and the dragons pulled to a stop in front of the house built against the back of the church that was meant for the priest and his family's use. In this case a demon and his unknowing apprentice. They sat silently as they stared at the seemingly empty house. "So, this is probably the worst idea ever." Xander muttered from the back seat.
"It's our only idea right now." Megan let out a sigh with her words.
"Xander's right. We're walking into an unknown situation with a demon who can control one of the people in the car." Dellan shook his head as he leaned back on his seat again. "We didn't think this through."
"No, but we don't have choices. Something's obviously happening and we need to figure it out." Daniel started to climb from the car, stilling when Dellan grabbed the back of his shirt to stop him.
"Who said it has to be us?" Xander asked with a frown.
"No one else has exactly stepped forward to do it." Megan climbed from the car and took two steps away.
Daniel grumbled under his breath as he pulled free of Dellan and started after Megan. "Daniel," Dellan grabbed Daniels arm when he rounded the car, Xander climbing from the car after Dellan had already climbed over him to get out before Daniel. "You need to stay here."
"Like hell I am."
"Daniel, IF this man is the demon we're looking for he could turn you on us. Do you want Megan's death on your hands?"
Daniel hesitated, teeth gritting as he glared at Dellan. "Fine." He finally snapped out, leaning back against the car with his arms crossed over his chest.
Dellan gave his shoulder a squeeze and moved after Megan and Xander. Megan hesitated at the door, staring at it before whispering to the dragons. "Try and act normal. If he is the demon, which seems to be highly likely, we can't let him know we know." Xander rolled his eyes as if it was obvious, though Dellan was nice enough to just nod. Finally lifting her fist, Megan knocked on the door. When no one answered she knocked again, harder this time. The door jerked open a minute later, Edmund stilling when he spotted the trio. "We're looking for Allen." Megan said, offering the man a friendly smile and tried to act as normal as possible.
Edmunds eyes narrowed on them instantly, glancing at the dragons when the shifted. Megan didn't have to guess why. They were using their own bodies to block Daniel from the mans sight. "Why?"
"It's important. Family business and all that."
Edmund stood staring a moment longer as If trying to decide to tell or if they were up to something before finally speaking. "He's in the church." He snapped out. He stepped back, slamming the door before Megan could say anything else.
Megan let out a small snort as she stepped off the porch and started around the building to the front of the church. When Daniel started to step away from the car, Megan waved him off with a shake of her head. She was glad they'd decided to park on the other side of the street. Maybe he was far enough away that the demon wouldn't feel him. Though after they'd pulled up to the curb she'd started to think bringing him was a bad idea. "Is it just me, or was it a little weird a slayer of everything breathing just told us where to find his trainee without any arm twisting?"
Dellan gave a small nod. "He's up to something. He must know what you are. Maybe he's hoping Allen kills you."
"That's what I was thinking too." Megan hesitated at the church doors, wondering if Edmund had a way of reaching Allen before them.
