Para akong baliw na nagsasalita mag-isa tapos siya dire-diretso lang na naglalakad patungo sa sasakyan ko.

"Kung ano-ano mga sinasabi mo, Rush, ha!" dugtong ko.

I heard him laugh. "Sorry, ma'am. I just need them to stop looking at me like I'm the only last guy on earth."

"Bakit kailangan wife?"

"If I said that you're my girlfriend, they would say that they still have a chance."

Napatigil ako at dahan-dahan na tumango. Oo nga naman. May point siya—

"Kahit na may point naman 'yung sinabi mo, hindi pa rin tama na sasabihin mo 'yon basta-basta sa mga tao sa paligid mo," umismid ako. "Baka mamaya may schoolmate pala ako doon tapos narinig 'yung sinabi mo, edi kumalat pa sa school. Paano ako magkaka-boyfriend niyan?" mahabang litanya ko.

"Ako bahala kapag hindi ka nagka-boyfriend," aniya nang malagay na lahat ng pinamili namin sa likod ng sasakyan.

"Weh? Duda ako diyan. 'Di mo nga naging jowa si Alondra tapos ikaw bahala sa love life ko?" pang-aasar ko.

"Because you planned it."

Natameme ako doon. Hinarap niya ako at ipinagkrus niya sa tapat ng dibdib niya ang mga kamay niya.

"Sorry naman." Nag-iwas ako ng tingin.

"It's fine, ma'am. I don't like her as a woman who'll stay by my side forever. I just like her as a friend. I've always felt it. Ngayon na nalaman kong planado lahat, naiintindihan ko na kung bakit salungat ang kilos ko sa nararamdaman ko," sambit niya.

"Mafia boss ka ba talaga? Bakit parang ang soft mo naman kaysa doon sa sinulat ko?" nagtataka kong tanong.

"Ma'am, I've killed countless of people in my twenty-five years of living. Tortured most of them, and I was exposed to cruelty my entire life. I am a monster. But I know how to distinguish good and evil people and how to treat them differently," he answered.

"So, am I included in the list of your good people?" Tinaas-taas ko ang kilay ko sa kanya.

"I'm still not sure, ma'am. You are the reason why my life is horrible. So, I don't think you'll fit in the good category," he said in a monotone voice.

This is what makes him scary and dangerous. He is quick to change his mood. He could go from a 'flirty guy' to a 'guy that could slit your throat if you say a word' in just a second. It makes me think that his actions are not genuine enough for me to trust him and be comfortable around him.

"On second thought, I think you'll make it to my good list very soon."

"And why is that?" I asked. My forehead creased while waiting for his response.

"Because you'll create my new story. 'Di ba babaguhin mo ang buhay ko? Ibabalik mo ang mga bagay na dapat ay akin."

I nodded my head in realization. Oo nga pala. I have to start his request as soon as possible para makaalis na rin siya dito. It's not that I don't want him around.

Hindi lang kasi ito ang mundo na nararapat para sa kanya.

"I'll make sure that your life will be great," ngumiti ako sa kanya.
