Author's note: the image is Jacob.

Before I could do anything, Viktor jumped in front of me and growled. The wolf began to circle him. Jacob jumped in between them. I knew Viktor wasn't about to hurt him. I shifted back and got dressed. Viktor shifted too.

Jacob held his hand out to the wolf who sniffed him and then rubbed his head on his hand. He too shifted and we were greeted by a gorgeous man. He had long black hair, and a well groomed black beard and mustache. He was about five foot eight and slim.

"Who are you people and why have you summoned me," he asked.

Jacob spoke, "you're my mate. That is why we have come."

"I thought I was imagining the howl at first but then she spoke to me and she said 'come to me'. It felt like a command. I didn't appreciate that," he said.

"I'm sorry. That was my fault. I'm tired. I just want to go home and you weren't answering. I didn't think it would come out as a command and I apologize for that," I said.

"Apology accepted. I am Kiyoshi Ichikawa. To where is it we are going?" He asked.

We're eventually going to New York," Jacob said. By the way, I am Jacob Taylor."

"I like New York. I will go with you. Jacob Taylor," he said, tasting it. "You are my mate?"

"Yes," Jacob said.

Prove it. Kiss me," he said.

They went at it right there in front of everyone. I'm talking all the way at it. We all averted our gazes. At least I did.

Back to the hotel?

Yes, all around.

"We leave at nine in the morning," I shouted, then walked back to our hotel room.

I slept until six and then I went down for breakfast. We had a traditional Japanese breakfast consisting of steamed rice, miso soup, grilled fish, a rolled omelette and various side dishes.

It was delicious even though strange. It was like eating dinner for breakfast. Viktor thoroughly enjoyed his. When we were done we went for a walk, holding hands and talking.

"I've been thinking,"I said.

"This can't be good," he said, and I nudged him.

"I'm serious," I said.

"Then let me put my serious face on," he said, scowling at me.

"If you're going to keep joking around, I'll keep it to myself," I said

"No no, I'm sorry. What were you going to say?" He asked.

"It's two things really. I find it odd that I have never seen a rogue until I was at your pack. Doesn't that seem odd?" I asked

"That is strange. Maybe some investigating is on order. We'll get to it eventually," he said.

"The other thing is Helena," I said.

"What about her?" He asked.

"Well she's awfully attached to you," I said.

"Are you getting jealous?" He asked with a grin.

"No, I'm more concerned. Don't you find it odd that she said Bobby was going to help her find her mate when everybody else needs us?" I asked.

"What exactly are you saying?" He asked.

"How do we know that she's, you know, one of us?" I asked.

"She's on the shared mindlink," he pointed out.
