(I'm the flash don't tell anyone)
(I don't know about other peoples experiences but with my DID and like ptsd and shit I forget a lot of things and I can have nights where I lose all my memories and not even know my family, so it actually is a thing that does happen. I believe a trauma response)
Marc came to and looked around to see Steven was in control, he was sitting in the square just down from their apartment where he used to meet Crawley. But it was pouring rain and there was no one around, he just sat.
"Hey, Steven. You okay?" Marc asked as Steven looked down at a puddle to see Marc's face.
"Oh, yeah I'm okay. Just wanted some fresh air." He replied as Marc looked back at him with worry.
"Buddy it's pouring rain, let's get back home okay?" Marc said as Steven nodded, there didn't seem to be any kind of emotion in his face.
Marc was worried to say the least.
He made sure Steven got back to the apartment, but he was soaking wet.
"Mind if I take over? I'll get us dried off and in the shower okay?" Marc said as Steven nodded, he knew then something was up. Steven was always talking or always wanting to be in control especially in the apartment.
Marc took over the body and did everything he needed to, stripping off the wet clothes, taking a shower and changing into dry clothes.
"Where's Gus? Why are there two fish in the tank?" Steven muttered as Marc got changed.
"Gus isn't here anymore, and we got two more fish remember?" Marc said softly, but within his mind he was freaking out.
"Let's get some sleep alright, even just a nap." Marc said going over to the bed and laying down.
"I don't remember things." Steven whispered as Marc turned over to look at his reflection.
"Who are you? Why am I in a mirror?" Steven muttered as Marc looked at him sadly.
He had no idea what to do.
"It'll be okay." Marc said before he closed his eyes and pushed Steven out from the front. It seemed cruel but making sure Steven was unconscious was the best thing to do now.
Marc quickly grabbed his phone and went through his contacts finding one that said 'Kate.'
He quickly dialed the number and waited for an answer.
"Marc, knowing you're calling me can't mean anything good." A woman said as Marc sighed.
"I know I don't call much. You're the only person that I thought to call." He muttered, Kate was an old friend he'd only just got back into contact with. A friend that he had learnt also had DID like him.
"It's about Steven. He's forgetting things, I came tot he front to see him just sitting in the rain and he's saying he can't remember things. He barely even remembered me." Marc spoke into the phone nervously.
"I know it can be scary Marc, but it is pretty normal. It happens to us over here too. I have days where I even forget my own name, it's something that comes with PTSD unfortunately. There's not much to do about it, the best to do is just be there for him. Be soft and understanding, don't force anything onto him. Just make sure he's comforted until it's over." She replied as he breathed a sigh of relief.
"So he's not going to forget me forever?" Marc asked gripping the phone.
"No Marc, he won't. It'll run it's course. Now I have to go I'm in the middle court." She said before hanging up making Marc chuckle softly.
He sighed and laid down deciding it was best to go within the mind to see Steven, maybe it would bring him more comfort.
—
He opened his eyes to see he was in front of a door, he opened it and he expected to see the replica of their apartment like usual. But it was an endless land of sand and stars.
He saw Steven sitting down with his knees to his chest.
Marc sat beside him and smiled.
"Where are we?" Steven whispered in fear, Marc made sure to keep his face calm.
"This is just inside our mind, I know it seems confusing. But you're safe here." Marc said as Steven nodded and rested his head on Marc's shoulder.
"I'm scared." Steven whispered as Marc wrapped an arm around him.
"I know buddy, but we'll get through this. I'll be here."
—
Steven had ended up falling asleep and Marc had made sure he would be comfortable before he fell asleep too.
He woke up in the morning seeing he wasn't fronting.
"Marc!" Steven shouted shooting up in their bed.
"It's okay buddy I'm right here." Marc replied as Steven looked around.
"Bullocks what happened? I remember things now, but last night I couldn't. Oh gods I'm losing my mind aren't I? Oh lord I have dementia it's already set in." Steven rambled on before Marc stopped him.
"Buddy, take a breath. It's okay. You're not losing your mind. I called Kate and she explained it was normal, it's a trauma response. With everything going on your brain probably just wanted a break and that's why you didn't remember anything. I promise you're safe okay?" Marc reassured him as Steven took a breath and nodded.
"Okay, yeah that makes sense actually. I'm sorry for scaring you." Steven said looking over at Marc who smiled in return.
"You never have to apologise Steven. I'll always have your back."
