"Sorry, guys! I'm headed off to the Seven Walls!" Emma smiled as she, Y/n, and Ray entered a room.
The other escapees from Grace Field and Goldy Pond blinked before crying out in worry.
"Wait a minute...!!" Lannion said.
"What do you mean?!" Thoma questioned.
"Even though that Norman said he would wipe out all of the demons?!" Nat yelled.
"He did say that. However..." Emma nervously chuckled. "I thought I was going to hold it in, but I guess it's impossible for me after all. I don't want to wipe out the demons." She revealed.
"EHHHHHHH?!"
"Wiping them out, extermination...That really would be the most reliable, correct way. But that's only our best guess at the moment. If there were only bad demons out there, it would be easy. But the demons who live in the villages...They have children and even babies. If we cut off their food supply, they'll become like those wild demons and be wiped out. Just how much fear and hate do you think we'll be creating?" Emma looked at the floor.
The others looked at her in realization.
"If at all possible, I don't want to kill them. And it might not just be me who doesn't want to kill them." Emma said.
"We were told about how we're going to have to kill Mujika and Sonju." Ray revealed, making some of them gasp.
"But this is entirely my own selfishness. These are all just things that I've been thinking about lately. I don't plan on dragging all of you into this. And Norman says that he has no intentions of stopping the plan or waiting. Even though I have no idea if there will actually be a way other than extinction. So, Y/n, Ray, and I are heading out for a bit! I want to make a choice that I won't regret. I want to choose my future." Emma smiled.
Thoma and Lannion looked at each other before their shoulders slumped.
"I see..." Lannion said.
"Is it just that our imaginations are lacking, or..." Thoma followed.
"Well, in reality, it's because you guys have never seen the demon villages that are out there. You have no image to refer to in your mind if you don't know it exists." Y/n said.
"Even though I hate them so much, I still can't imagine our enemy has a side like that to them..." Sandy spoke up.
"Sandy..."
"But I despise demons...! I get what you're saying, Emma. They're your friends...Ustinez was our friend too, a good one, but he's dead...And you don't want the necessary killing of Mujika and Sonju, but...But you and everyone here are more important to me than those demons!!!" Gillian exclaimed.
"The enemy doesn't show mercy. I want to have our friends protected first of all...! But to do that...there will be kids...even babies...I...I-!" She lowered her head, clenching her fists.
Some of the kids comforted the girl as she tried not to cry.
"Why...Even though those demons tried to kill you the other day!" Gilda exclaimed.
Anna felt shivers go down her spine and goosebumps litter her skin, remembering the scene of Y/n and Emma being grabbed by the demons.
"She's a weirdo. At first, I couldn't grasp it at all either." Ray said, making the girl freeze as the others laughed.
"Yeah, but that's Emma for you." Don said.
"Don..." Emma said.
The boy grinned and said, "Well then, go right on ahead, Emma."
