"RUN!"
Breaking out into a quick sprint, the kids were driven by fear as a demon emerged from the trees, chasing after them with its teeth bared and incoherent, monstrous sounds leaving its mouth.
-----
'WHAT THE HELL?! WHAT THE HELL?! WHAT THE HELL?!' Nat thought as he ran.
'Is it after us?'
'Don't look back! Don't look!'
'Just a bit though...' Thoma thought as he turned slightly to look behind him.
"AHHHHHHH!!!"
"Ray, Y/n, what is that thing?! Is that in the book too?!" Gilda asked, pure horror on her face as she sent quick glances at the monstrous creature that pursued them.
"No, there's nothing!" Ray responded, furrowing his brows. "This must be...A demon!"
"A demon?!" One of the kids cried.
"WAHHHHH!!!" Ustinez wailed as he ran.
"AREN'T YOU A DEMON THOUGH?!" Don asked, not sure as to why the demon was scared of a fellow demon.
"DON'T YOU DARE ASSOCIATE ME WITH THAT! IT'S TRYING TO KILL NOT ONLY YOU, BUT ME TOO!" Ustinez yelled.
"So that's a...demon!?" One of the kids whimpered.
"Yeah, I'm sure!" Emma nodded firmly. "That hand...That face...That skin...I remember those demons very well...!"
Still, as she glanced at their pursuer, she slightly shook her head, noting a clear distinction between this demon and the ones she saw at the gate.
"But...the monsters that I and Norman saw walked upright like humans! They even talked!"
"Yeah, the ones in my early memories were like that too!" Ray nodded.
"You two are right. There's no way this demon is the same as the ones at the headquarters! The ones I saw were like the ones you described, Emma!" Y/n grinned, although it was clearly forced as his eyes darted from staring forward to looking at the demon.
"They didn't have tails...And always wore those hideous horned masks...and had clothes too!" Emma spoke, the memory as clear as day.
'However, this one here is...It's just an animal. So that's a demon too, eh...'
The demon, much to their surprise, launched its tongue forward, and even though the others managed to get away, Emma was no so lucky. The force had caused her to stumble, her feet slipping as her body started falling forward.
"AH!"
"EMMA!"
Luckily, Y/n managed to grab Emma's hand before she fell, and he pulled her along.
"Thanks!" Emma exhaled, composing herself and picking up the speed.
'What does it mean? What are these demons? There's more than one kind? Thinking now, even the ones from the farm had different sizes and shapes. Ustinez does too. What kind of creatures are they actually? What kind of world is this where they live and rule?' Emma thought.
"Uhm...so...The demon came from the farm to catch us?" Mark anxiously asked as he ran beside Nat.
"NO! It's not from the farm! It wants to eat us all right here!" Nat screamed, clearly panicked.
"Exactly! This isn't them yet! If it was, it would treat us like merchandise, not attack us like that! They would never!" Emma huffed.
"It's a different kind of demon, unrelated to the Grace Field plantations." Ray furrowed his brows.
