"CASSIE YOU CHEATER!" Hen exclaims, slamming her cards on Cassie's living room table as the girl grins victoriously as she had won another round of poker. The holiday season was coming, and Cassie wasn't feeling like staying in her apartment alone this year, so she decided to have a girls night with Maddie, Hen, her wife Karen, and Athena.

"Don't hate the player," Cassie smirked, pulling the multi-colored chips closer to her. "Hate the game, Henrietta. Pay up, ladies." Cassie patted the spot on the table, waiting for the ladies to pay their respected amount of money.

"Alright, I'm out," Maddie sighed, taking another sip of her red wine from her wine glass. "Besides, I think Cassie is using poker to pay for her rent."

Athena sent Cassie a pointed look. "Is that true, Cassandra?"

"What?...No...More wine?" Cassie nervously drew out her words before offering the bottle to the older woman hoping to change the subject.

"Wait, why don't you have a roommate to help pay rent?" Karen asked the younger woman, who began putting the cards away.

"Well, my best friend moved out a few weeks ago, so now I'm just trying to find the perfect roommate, but so far, no luck." Cassie pouted, brushing her freshly washed curls out of her face. She had finally taken her braids down, and now she had tamed her curls and coils the best she could. However, considering she hadn't had an "ethnic" mother figure in her life, she didn't know how to take care of her natural crown.

"Well, I know Buck is looking for a roommate." Hen sipped her wine like tea.

"Ha! No way in hell. This entire complex would be on fire." Cassie chuckled. "You two are firefighters. I'm sure you could handle it." Hen defended, suppressing her laughs, while Maddie and Athena shook their heads knowingly. They had all secretly put their bets on when Buck and Cassie would become a thing.

"I'll think about it because Chim has been begging me for the past few weeks." Cassie chuckled, rolling her eyes as she remembers her friend talking about how much of a slob Buck was. Cassie turned to Maddie, a teasing smirk on her face. "Speaking of Chimney..."

Maddie scoffs, craning her neck towards the kitchen, attempting to hide the obvious blush adorning her cheeks. "Don't start. Chimney and I are just friends."

"Yeah, just friends don't go on dates." Hen snickered, high-fiving Cassie.

"Leave poor Maddie alone." Athena defended, coming to the brunette's defense. This caused Maddie to smile at the older police officer. "Thank you, Athena."
