"CHIM!" Cassie theatrically shouted from his from door, announcing her presence. "I brought the food you asked for." She sat the many bags on the table before joining him and Hen in the living room. Over the past few weeks, Cassie has been waiting on Chimney hand and foot when it came to his recovery. Not that he was complaining she was honestly a good nurse, when she wasn't mouthing off.
"Thank you kid, you're a life saver." He smiled while folding his shirts.
"Why are you turning your shirts into origami? And shouldn't you be resting, those stitches may be out but you're still gonna be sore for a while." Cassie interrogated earning a laugh from Hen.
"Ok Dr. Fields bring it down a notch," Chim twisted an imaginary dial, before continuing. "And I'm trying to determine if this shirt sparks joy, and I did, and it doesn't. And now I thank the shirt. Thank you." He then tossed it in a pile beside him before beginning the same process with another shirt.
"You need therapy Chim." Hen sighed sitting in front of the man, and Cassie couldn't help but agree with her. No one could handle what Chim went through and not need to have an emotional support person to help them get through all the pain and trauma. "Promise us you will at least use the therapy provided to at least talk to someone." Cassie pleaded.
"I promise kid. But for now I need to focus on my second first date with Maddie."
"You both just almost died. Now you're just gonna prance over to her place-"
"Where you almost died." Cassie reminded earning a pointed look from Chim.
"What Cass said, and pick her up for dinner like it never happened." Hen asked for clarification still in disbelief that her best friend would pick up where he left off and not confront how terrifying what he went through was.
"No Maddie is coming over here to pick me up because she is a modern woman. Also, I'm pretty sure they couldn't get the bloodstain off that brick." He joked causing Cassie to cringe remembering the blood all over the ground pooling around him.
"So I guess Maddie still sparks joy?" Hen asks with a small smile happy for Chim.
"Always." He said with a dopey smile on his face.
Hen stood from her position on the couch and grabbed her bag. "Alright well I better head out to beat the LA traffic, you coming Cass?"
Cassie shook her head, "Nah I've got some time to spare before my shift."
Once Hen left Chimney went back to folding his shirt into the shape of envelopes and Cassie began to unpack all the food and groceries she'd gotten. "Alright kid, what's with all the babying these past few weeks?"
