Chapter 18

Bucky spent the rest of the day in the apartment, crying.

You held him for the entire afternoon, not daring to let go. He ended up sleeping, but still crying.

You got up to get a snack, when he held out his metal arm saying, "Don't go." It broke your heart and you went back to holding him.

You fell asleep, stroking his head.

After two more hours, he sat up and looked at you.

"Why are you so good to me?" He whispered. He cried into your neck.

"Because you deserve another chance, Bucky," You said. "We dated ever since 1943, and we lost each other. I missed you and loved you still. You weren't yourself, but you couldn't control that. We're married now, Bucky. That's all I ever wanted." He looked at you and pressed his lips against yours.

"I love you so much, doll," He said, in between breaths of kissing.

"I love you too, Sargeant," You said.

You saw as Bucky pulled out his notebook and stared down at a name.

You turned on the T.V. so see a man talking. It made Bucky wake up and snuggle against your chest. You put an arm around him and started watching the news.

"Unrest," The man said. "In the wake of recent events has left us vulnerable. Everyday Americans feel it. While we love heroes who put their lives on the line to defend Earth, we also need a hero to defend this country." Your heart started pounding, and you and Bucky leaned closer to the T.V.

"We need a real person who embodies America's greatest values. We need someone to inspire us again. Someone who can be a symbol for all of us. So, on behalf of the Department of Defense and our Commander-in-Chief, it is with great honor that we announce here today that the United States of America has a new hero." You eyes filled with water, but no tears came out. Bucky looked at you and wiped the water away, kissing your eyes.

You put your head into your chin, so scared to watch what was happening.

"Join me in welcoming your new Captain America!" The doors behind the man swung open, and a man came marching out wearing Captain America's suit, and Captain America's shield.

You wanted to know what Sam was thinking. And Bucky did not seem happy at all.

(Sorry this chapter is short, it's just some small stuff. the next few chapters should be pretty long, but I guess we'll see! I hope you're enjoying this book <3)
