Chapter 28

You were out in a living room with Zemo, Bucky, Sharon, and Sam.

Sam was slipping on his shirt when Sharon walked in. You nuzzled up into Bucky and he stroked your arm, planting kisses on your head every few minutes.

"What's going on, Sharon?" Sam asked. "You don't ever wanna come back home?"

Sharon threw a blanket on top of you, and you scrunched up your nose at her.

You pulled it over your body, and closed your eyes, still listening to the conversation.

"They'll lock me up if I step foot back in the States," Sharon said. "Madripoor doesn't allow extradition."

"Look, I'm sorry I didn't call," Sam said. "But after The Blip and the chaos, I just--"

"Look," Sharon interrupted. "You know the whole hero thing is a joke, right? The way you gave up that shield, deep down, you must know it's all hypocrisy."

"He knows," Zemo said, making you shiver. Bucky tightened his grip around you, planting a long kiss on your head. "And not so deep down."

"By the way," Sharon said. "How is the new Cap?"

"Don't get me started," Bucky said. It sent a vibration through your body. Sharon scoffed.

"Please," She said, sarcastically. "You but into all that stars and stripes bullshit. Before you were his pet psychopath, you were Mr. America! Cap's best friend." She sat down next to Bucky, biting her bottom lip. Your eyes slowly opened. You hated the way Sharon looked at Bucky like that.

You slowly got up, but Bucky pulled you back into him.

"I won't let her get to me," He mumbled in Romanian, in your ear.

Bucky stared at Sharon. "Wow. She's kind of awful now."

That made you and Sharon burst out laughing.

"Karli Morgenthau and at least eight others have taken the serum," Sam said. He sat down.

"You guys really should steer clear of all of this," Sharon said. "For your own safety."

"We know it's a risk," You said. "But we're not gonna leave until we find the person who cracked the code."

"We got a name," Bucky said. "Wilfred Nagel."

Sharon looked worried. She got up. You got up. You stared at her.

"Nagel works for the Power Broker," She said, not turning her gaze away from your eyes. That made Zemo stand up.

"We need your help Sharon," You said, quietly. You sat back down.

"I can get your name cleared," Sam said. You and Bucky shot him a look.

"You haggling with my life?" She said, pouring herself a drink. She handed you a glass of wine, which you took. You took a small sip than set it down in the table in front of you.

"Not like that," Sam said.

"I don't buy that," Sharon said. "You pretending like you can clear my name."

"Okay, maybe it is hypocrisy," Sam continued. "Maybe you're right. What happened to you. But we're willing to try if you are."

"They cleared the bionic staring machine," Sam said, turning to Bucky and you. "And he's killed almost everybody he's met."
