"If by my life or death I can protect you, I will."

"You're okay..." Maureen continued to whisper to the twins, trying to convince them it was true. They were in a safe space now, far from the people who might hurt them. "You're gonna be okay."

She had her arms around both of them as they sat beside each other, rubbing the side of Harper's head in a calming manner and keeping Hayes close to her in a hug.

They were frightened, spooked on what happened.

Charee was also full of questions, on why they had to leave early and why there were so many people outside their car. No one could give her a proper answer, so with convincing from Mrs. Helen, she took a nap to catch on her energy, same goes with the babies.

Their supposed fun family weekend was ruined.

Maureen kept her tight hold on the twins as they remained quiet, her eyes shifting over to Tobias who gripped the wheel tightly.

His eyes were dark and pissed, obviously frustrated on the situation.

She didn't know exactly how he felt, but she was familiar with it.

Tobias had to concentrate on driving, and although he wanted to contact his secretary and lawyer to what was going on, he figured that his emotions might go haywire and put them all in danger while he was driving.

For now, he had to get his family to safety.

A few minutes drive from the amusement park and they reached the hotel, to which no surprise had people clamoring by the lobby. It was obvious why they were there, as they didn't look much as tourists.

"Fuck." Tobias cursed under his breath, keeping his voice low to not alarm the kids. Maureen heard him though, and looked out the window to see what was happening.

People. So many of them by the hotel entrance, obviously not there to check in.

Maureen moved Harper and Hayes' head from the window, covering their sight to not let them see the chaotic situation outside.

She knew that they somehow had a glimpse, but if they did, not one of them said a word. She also heard Mrs. Helen mumble under her breath as she looked out the window.

Maureen closed her eyes, feeling a headache coming as Tobias took another turn to avoid the crowd. He was now on his phone, contacting the hotel and telling them if there was another way in that won't involve the sea of people wanting to see them.

Maureen realized one thing. Right now, they seemed helpless.

Looking down on the kids who kept their heads down, she continued to embrace them, keeping her hold tight and warm.

She hated how their weekend turned out.

Tobias took another turn, now headed to the underground parking of the hotel, while a security guard by the entrance waved him over. He guided them to another basement parking, which seemed more private and secluded.

"Okay... everything's okay. Let's go." Tobias spoke, turning to look at his kids from his seat and looking at them. He saw how the twins were still scared, Maureen was looking down at the two, and how Mrs. Helen was looking at him with worried eyes.

With a sigh, Tobias nodded. He left his seat and gathered his things, leaving the stroller and the bag as the others did the same. They were going to check out and go home.

Their house was safer than any other place.

"Come on, baby." he cooed, lifting Charee in his arms as he held Harper's hand in his. Maureen was carrying Nikki while she held Hayes' hand, and Mrs. Helen carried Natalie.
