Chapter 10

Tahseen sat back on her heels and wiped the beads of sweat that formed on her brow.
She gazed back at her art work, content with what she saw.

The next portion of her mural was complete.
A mystical green forest, lush in all its greenery. Shades of chartreuse, shamrock and emerald, highlighted the various trees.
The rocky hills were filled with colours of moss, fern and lime, overlapping the ash grey and white rock formation.

The rising sun peeked up from above the hills, giving rays of light to the scenery below.
A light morning fog danced just above the peak of the mountain.

Scattered twinkling fairies could be spotted. Outstanding in pink, purple and yellow dresses. Silver wings shimmered against their delicate shoulders, their locks of curls could be seen floating in the air.
Their dainty little bodies were elegantly painted with a light hand.

A mural of a mesmeric tale, being told with fervent talent and vivid colours of paint.

Tahseen grinned widely, this was it!
This was what made her soul sing in merriment. To allow herself to be free, to be true to what she truly wanted to experience.

The beep of the email notification made her stumble back, falling flat on her butt.

Her cheeks burned crimson in embarrassment, a little bit for practically falling over, but mostly for being so over excited to grab her phone, that she completely lost her balance in the process.

There was only one person that would email her, there was only one person that had been emailing her through out the day, and her heart betrayed her every single time, flipping in her chest.

She glanced in her knapsack, as the screen of the phone lit up. The name on the screen caused the pulse in her wrist to skip in a little happy dance.

Zuhair Adam.

The man had been visiting the hospital more often than not, and Tahseen was fully aware that Dr Miller wasn’t the only person he came to see.
While he spoke to Eric, his gaze slipped towards her often enough, and she knew, because she couldn’t help herself from staring at him too, then he'd walk over and Tahseen felt her brain lose all coherent thoughts in his presence.
Everytime he'd pass by, leaving a cup of coffee and a lunch salad for her with Linda, making it easier for her to enjoy healthy meals instead of all the chocolate and cookies she’d been devouring.

Looking back at her phone, a spasm went through her arms and she shook off the feeling in her wrist, as an artist’s ache.
Probably due to all the drawing and painting; at least, that’s what she convinced herself it was.
It had absolutely nothing to do with the email, waiting to be read.

Tahseen blew up her cheeks and let out her breath. She carefully laid down her pencil and rubbed her palms on her thighs.
Her fingers were slightly stiff with all the drawing she had done, and she needed to stretch out her hands.

With a nervous lick of her lips, she picked up her phone and clicked on the email.

I would assume these sketches are for the painting that you were busy with, the day I interrupted you? 🙈
I apologize for this profusely, but I definitely can’t say I regret it.

I’d love to have a look at these stress relieving sketches sometime. (I can only imagine the beauty, art coming from beauty itself. )

In fact, you may have stumbled upon a new medical solution, Dr Hassim!
When the focus of a person is on beauty and not pain, the heart and mind will be relieved from their illnesses, even if they’re not fully cured.
