The avengers were in the quinjet and Steve saw Tony in deep thoughts as all were getting ready in their gears.

"Tones?", Steve said softly holding Tony's arm who snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Steve with a smile on his face.

"Yes baby?", Tony asked, "What's wrong honey? I saw you were in deep thoughts", Steve said and Tony looked down.

"I... this is the first mission ever since we had the boys and it feels weird to have left them alone", Tony said and Steve smiled.

"I know honey, but as soon as we finish this we will go home back to them", Steve said and Tony hugged him and Steve softly stroked Tony's hair as the quinjet landed.

They pulled away, "Ok, our main objective is to get the scepter back, keep that in thought", Steve said and all nodded and went in charging.

As they were fighting Clint was attacked by one of the enhanced twins, "We have an enhanced in the field", Steve said through the comms.

"Great. As if we didn't already have enough in our plates", Tony said as he flew through the barriers and inside.

Tony stepped out of his suit and started checking it out when he found a secret entrance, where he found not only the scepter, but also a chitauri leviathan.

Suddenly Wanda Maximoff, one of the enhanced used her powers on him and he started seeing something he never wanted to.

His fellow avengers, his family which he loved and whom loved him, dead in front of him and a huge familiar black wormhole with the chitauri coming in.

No, he thought as he saw Steve bleeding with a broken shield next to him, "Steve", he said softly and knelt down next to his husband.

Suddenly Steve held his hand making Tony gasp as tears fell from his eyes, "You could've saved us. Why didn't you do more?", he said and took his last breath.

"Save Peter and Harley", he said and stilled making Tony take deep breaths as he felt a panic attack coming in.

"Tony?", he heard his husband's voice in the comms and snapped out and called for his suit and took the scepter and immediately flew back to the quinjet and saw his family still alive.

He sighed as he gave the scepter back to Thor and hugged Steve as soon as he removed his suit, who was surprised for a minute before hugging him back.

"What's wrong baby? Are you alright?", Steve asked softly as Bruce, Thor and Nat talked about Hulk's victims.

"Better now", Tony said softly still seeing Steve's death in front of him, Steve smiled and kissed Tony's head swaying softly.

"Cut it out lovebirds, a little hurt here", Clint yelled and Tony and Steve pulled apart and Tony stuck his tongue out at Clint.

Tony called Dr.Cho and arranged for Clint's healings, "It feels good, yeah? I mean, you've been after this thing since SHIELD collapsed. Not that I haven't enjoyed our little raiding parties, but...", Tony said to Thor and Steve as they looked at the scepter.

"No, but this... this brings it to a close", Thor said, "As soon as we find out what else this has been used for. I don't just mean weapons. Since when is Strucker capable of human enhancement?", Steve asked.

"Banner and I'll give it the once before it goes back to Asgard. Is that cool with you? [Thor nods his head] I mean, just a few days until the farewell party. You're staying right?", he asked and Steve looked at him surprised.
