17 - 《SECRETS》

Saki didn't often like keeping secrets from her brother. Or anyone, really. It always felt like some sort of bomb that could explode right out of her in either confetti or just plain destruction. 

She decided she could keep this one to herself, however. Not because it was an entirely important, life-changing secret (it kinda was, anyway) but because she decided she didn't want to think about it at all because it would be too cringe and make her want to throw up in her mouth.

Saki Tenma was not a homophobe.

It was just that every time she saw her brother she was reminded of Rui's swooning and gushing about her brother, and she decided she'd never want to have to visualise it in her head again. 

"Hmm, where'd the biscuits go..?"

Saki yawned as she closed the cupboard again, confused and also quite hungry for a midnight (or near midnight) snack. " I swear I put them here this afternoon..."

Crunch.

She turned, and lo and behold, attempting to tiptoe up the stairs was her brother, Tsukasa, the biscuits wanted she wanted in his hands.

"Hey, I was gonna eat those-!"

"Shhh! We'll wake up mum and dad!" he hissed.

"Sorry!" She whisper-yelled, "but at least give me some!"

 

 

And that was how the two of them ended up eating biscuits in Tsukasa's room, the only light coming from his computer screen. It lit the two of them up with a blue hue, as if they were aliens of some sort.

"Or smurfs," Saki said, "your blue light makes us look like smurfs. Is this computer why you never sleep?"

He continued playing Tetris on his computer. "Even without it I can't seem to sleep. This is just to pass the time."

"You're the one always telling me to take care of myself! Why don't you take you own advice?!"

"I'm not tired. Also, shouldn't you be sleeping?"

"Me not sleeping early is a one-night thing! You're always sleep deprived!"

He pointedly ignored her, and Saki watched as he eventually stopped playing Tetris and started opening Nightcord instead.

"Ooh, is this where you talk to all your online friends?"

"Yeah."

She pointed at one of his DMs. "Then who's that?"

He tilted his head at her. "That's Rui. Did he not tell you I gave him my Nightcord info?"

She hid her expression of (disgust, repulsion, disappointment- ahem.) curiosity. "No. You guys keep in touch?"

"Yeah."

"...Huh."

 

 

"Rui, you didn't tell me you kept in touch with my brother!"

"Rui keeps in touch with that Tsukasa guy?" Mizuki whistled. "Damn, so you meant it when you told me you were going to ask him out on a date one day–"

"You're going to what."

"Ehe~ Pretend Mizuki didn't say anything ~!"

 "Rui if you kill him I am going to kill you."

"I would never!"
