We, as in Tobias, Zeke, Uriah, Shauana, Marlene and I, drive silently together to the hospital. We were never expecting something like this to ever happen, especially to one of our closes friends.
I told everyone when they showed up at the house about Peter and Cara, and myself being taken in Ms. Matthews office that afternoon. Uriah suggested we called the cops, but that idea was shot down when Marlene explained that we couldn't say that unless we had visual proof.
My eyes gaze at the other cars along the highway as Zeke drives with Shauna upfront. They had their hands clasp together, gripping so tight that they would easily strangle another person. Marlene sat on Uriah's lap in the very back, leaning against his chest. Her eyes filled with sorrow as tears stained her cheeks. Uriah was ever so carefully to stroke his fingers through her hair, calming her down so she wouldn't have a break down in front of everyone. He told me about that last time she had a breakdown- her mothers death. Let's just say this: A thunderstorm would of been scared.
Unlike the other couples, Tobias and I sat across from each other, drawing our attention to the outside. Rain drizzled down the side of our windows as the car speeds on the highway.
About fifteen or so minutes later, we reached the hospital. We say in silence in the car for an extra two minutes, until Shauna broke the silence by opening her side of the door. Every one else starts doing the same.
I approach the desk with the gang following not far behind me. A middle aged women stands behind the counter, giving me a small smile.
"May I help you 'Mam?" she asks, her voice having a sweet southern accent.
I cough, then look at my hands. "We're looking for Christina Johnson's room. There's six of us wanting to visit? We heard about the accident."
The last does a quick typing across the keyboard at her computer, and scrolls through the screen. "Ah, yes! Christina Ellen Johnson. Room 245. Take the elevator to the fourth floor and take the sixth door to your right. Got it?" she finishes, grinning. I could tell this was probably one of her first days here.
"Yeah, thank you."
"The name is Veronica. Call me any time when you need assistance."
I smile, and start towards the elevator. "Thanks, Veronica."
-Getting to the room-
"Woah, Woah, hold on there." A nurse says from behind us. My hand was inches from turning the door nob until I turn my direction to the male nurses. "Not all of you at once."
"Huh?" We ask in unison. Usually this hospital was fine with multiple visitors.
"New policy. Only two or three visitors at a time. Or one. The rest will have to wait their turn."
I nod and thank him, then turn towards everyone.
"All right, so we can have Shauna, Marlene, and Uriah go in at once. Zeke and Tobias second. I kind of want to privately talk to her.
Everyone nods, and Tobias clutches my hand as the first group goes in. Minutes pass by until they walk out, small tears forming.
Tobias gives me small kiss on the cheek, and enters the room with Zeke. Taking less time then the last group, Zeke and Tobias walk out with Will not to far behind. I nod, thanking will for privacy and walk in. I slowly shut the door and walk in.
I'm going to admit it, even if it sounds bad, but Christina looked awful. Her normally straitned hair was frantic and poking out. She had dark, deep creases under her eyes that made her look about ten years older. She was slumped down on her bed, starring blankly at the wall. When she noticed me, her attention perks up and she gives a weak smile.
