Tobias POV:
I hear a faint cry in the living room. I stop the popcorn, then hustle in there.
"Tris?" I ask, seeing her face down with her hands covering her crying face. I see a strange man in a black suit sitting acrossed from her as well.
"Tris baby, are you okay? Did this man hurt you?" I say, rubbing her back gently.
"Mr. Eaton, may I have a word with you?" The strange man perks up.
"I guess, but make it quick."
I show him to a quiet hallway, where he takes off his giant black hat.
"Your Tris is crying because she has just found out about her dead parents. They were found yesterday with multiple gun shot holes everywhere."
I stand in shock for a few minutes, before putting my trembling hand over my mouth.
"Oh my god..."
The man nods, then continues talking.
"I was wondering if you and Tris wouldn't mind if we follow this case- find out the murderer. Natalie Prior was a friend of the chief, David, and he wants to find out as soon as possible who did this."
I tap my chin for a moment, thinking. Not about the offer, but what could of happened.
'Who would of killed her parents, from what I researched, they are good people.'
"What I think you should do is ask Tris first, since it's her parents. Have you informed her brother?"
He shakes his head. "He's somewhere way up in Illinois applying for a five star collage. We were going to go, but he should e on his way back by tomorrow."
I nod, and make my way to the living room, to find Tris starring at a picture of what I suspect is herself, Caleb, her mother, and father. They looked nice together- an average everyday family. A family I had always wished for"Tris?" I sit next to her on the couch and rub her back. "Are you all right?"
She shakes her head. "They're dead. They're both dead. If I hadn't left..."
I grab her hands and pull her close to my face.
"Beatrice, this was not your fault. Even if you were there, this would most likely still happen! If you were still there, I would of never of met you..." And I lean in and kiss her- her tears sliding on my face as she kisses me back. She lays her head in my chest and wraps her arms around me.
"Thank you." She whispers. I smile and kiss her head.
"You did the same for me."
She starts blushing, then whispers again. "Can you stay here tonight? I don't want to be alone and Caleb won't be here until tomorrow."
I nod, and we kiss."Hm." I hear a small grunt, and turn to see the tall man. I quickly tell Tris the plan, and she nods.
I turn around and nod, agreeing to the investigation.
"All right, we will inform you when we get updates. Take care." And with that, he walks out the house.Tris and I snuggle together for a little while longer on the couch until she falls asleep. When she's asleep, I play with her hair for a little while. God, she was so beautiful when sleeping. I wish every day could be like this.
That every day I could wake up with her face in front of mine. The thought in my mind makes me smile, and I fall asleep.
