Running his fingers through his brunette bristle, Karlos can’t help but inspect his mobile phone from time to time and noticed that until now, he still hasn't received a single notification from the green-eyed lady. He knew Lauren was very much annoyed by his persistence let alone, his messages or calls. However, perhaps it's not wrong if he expects even a short reply from her? Even just a dot. Just a single dot.

Is it too difficult for her to do that?

Karlos heave an exasperated sigh, glimpsing it was two in the morning. He had been waiting for more than three hours already.

The Cuban stood up from the leather couch and headed straight to the balcony to breathe.

Karlos leaned against the steel glass railing and was instantly greeted by the fascinating night view of the high towers. Karlos seized the moment to take a whiff of fresh air and soon, a cold morning breeze embraced his entire system that somehow provides comfort to his strained muscles. He has been tense for a while and seems to be thinking deeply because of his wife. He couldn't help but worry and be paranoid since he couldn't forget the agonizing scene in the elevator this afternoon—Particularly with the chance that perhaps she was still with her guest who invited her for a lunch date.

Lunch date.

Karlos’ mouth curved into a painful beam. He could not help being jealous. It’s nice that she easily gives in to other people—even those who don't deserve her attention. However, when it comes to him, he requires to beg constantly but ends up getting ruthlessly rejected.

Karlos shut his eyes in frustration and clung tightly to the handrail using his available hand.

He recalled that after office hours, he instantly finalized the required financial reports and ran directly to the President’s office. Despite the pain he had witnessed in the elevator, still, he was so excited to pick up his wife and treat her to a special dinner in a fine Mexican restaurant. However, the excitement he felt at that time was soon replaced by extreme disappointment when Veronica informed him that her boss had left the office ahead.

To say that he was shocked is an understatement.

Karlos thought that it was the first time she had done that. Despite the high position Lauren currently holds in the firm, normally, she leaves the office on time and returns late from The Boss Club. When she wants to be alone, she drives straight to her first class suite which is located near The Jauregui's Corporation.

Things that he has memorized due to his relentless tailing on his wife.

Once again, Karlos glanced at the screen of his phone. When he still did not receive a notification from Lauren and her three friends, Karlos decided to go to the parking lot to proceed to wait for his wife, sporting a plain rounded shirt and banana-printed pajamas. Karlos immediately sat down on one of the bumper blocks near where Lauren usually parked her luxurious car.

Resting his forearms over his knees, Karlos stared absent-mindedly at the expensive cars lined up inside the wide parking lot until his eyes shifted to the farthest point of the lot where his yellow-colored SUV was parked. He couldn't help but smile bitterly. Due to exhaustion from work, It was the first time he noticed that his car was too distant from where Lauren's car was usually parked.

Karlos mentally shook his head.

Minutes later, the Cuban didn't realize that he had fallen asleep on his spot. With his face buried in his arms, Karlos instantly raised his head and confusedly pulled his phone out of his side pocket due to the wild ringing of it. However, at the sight of the caller ID, Karlos’ blood seemed to awaken and his previously tired system disappeared.
