Chapter 16

Adeodatus groaned silently before forcing to open his eyelids.

His whole body is aching, he feels like a huge carriage rolled above him, but he doesn't feel sticky, completely opposite of what he had expected last night before passing out.

He moved his hand and felt the silk like cloth he used last night, so he also dressed me.

Carefully, he used his right hand to support his weight before facing the other side of the bed, and to his surprise he saw a fat kid staring dumbly at him.

"Huh?" he whispered as he stared at the kid.

The boy is holding a leather water bottle using his two cute hands, while standing like a statue near the bed.

"Hey!" he called out, still laying on the bed.

The boy flinched after hearing his hoarse voice, he extended his hands, trying to give the water bottle to him, so Ade stretched his arm as well and grip the bottle.

His eyebrows flinched before looking around at the whole cabin, there's no one, other than the kid. He's wondering how the kid entered earlier, because he is sure that the wooden door is heavy. Besides, are they even allowed to enter their captain's room? Unless...

He looked at the kid again to confirm his speculations, he looks like 2 or 3 years old, tan skin, chubby but his eyes are... brown, must have inherited it from his mother? After that bastard fucked me, don't tell me he has a wife and a kid now? "You... What's your name?" he asked afterwards, Ade came up with a plan, he won't be using the father alone now... he's going to use this kid as well.

But the boy stayed silent and that made him pissed. So, he opened the water bottle instead of scolding a kid, he'll just ease his dry throat.

Before he could even drink, the kid pointed to the now open bottle using his small index finger, "What... oh, I thought you were giving it to me." Ade whispered, a bit embarrassed.

Adeodatus sighed while staring at the innocent kid, he really isn't comfortable around them, just imagine a criminal with a high title being around some innocent people- a kid at that. Complete opposite.

But he needs to gain the kid's trust, to manipulate him or what. They need to get along for him to escape successfully.

Now that he thought about it, it was a good idea that his young cousin visited him every day even though all he did was ignore him, good thing he has a good hearing, he heard how Thelonius treated his cousin, he can do those too right?

He scoffed and sat on the bed, he held the kid's hand, pulled him lightly before carrying him and placing him on the bed beside him. He closed his eyes tightly after he felt the pain from his back when he carried the boy for some seconds. He sure is heavy.

"Hey mutt, what's your name?" he asked again after handing the water bottle to the boy.

The kid gave him a glance before answering, "...Finn."

Ade smirked, "Okay Finn, are you a good boy?"

He wants to know if the kid really understands him despite his young age, then he will think of something after finding out that he can really use the boy.

Finn nodded his head lightly, sticking the water bottle's hole near his mouth.

"Very well... then can you get the keys of this shackle hmm? Can you get them secretly?" he asked, then moved his feet, showing the shackles to the cute kid.

Finn pouted after drinking, he took glances alternately to the shackles back to the appealing man, he pouted before shaking his head.

Adeodatus was surprised after seeing Finn's action, he sure can understand me but obviously won't do it.

Ade rolled his eyes after realizing that the boy was of no use to him, just like any other age pirates, the kid was trained as well.
