Days passed by. They only captured the enemies since the other half... they either died in the battle or drowned to death or maybe eaten by some sea creatures. And some of them, maybe ten or fifteen escaped because their boat is too small and fast, riding a ketch is handy sometimes.
Their war strategist is indeed a big help, King Terry Blueberg together with his son, the Royal Prince, who's clearly a gifted royalty just like his father. Of course, they won't achieve the success if not for the forces from the north and west. And as for his aunt, Queen Adela, he sent him a letter not to join the war but to make their border strong, for safety precautions, their soldiers are enough besides he wants his aunt to focus on attending her duties and his cousin, the very young royal prince of the east.
And for the soldiers who died or got injured, their family will receive a huge amount of wealth from him and a good funeral– commonly not granted to commoners.
As for the pirates they captured, the higher the position the severe punishment would be– death, for the underage bandits or with less crimes they'll be hired as workers for the empire or be part of the knights, but they'll never be promoted with a high position like the major or commander.
While Horatius' men... are tied while watching the other pirates get killed by hanging. Mixed emotions can be read on their face, some are mad, terrified and most are glaring at his way.
Ade looked away and stared at his people. There are noble people, some commoners and his soldiers gathering on the same place where he ordered the execution of the former king Balder of the north and his underlings.
After the execution session he walked towards the courtroom and there he saw Horace's men sitting on the wooden benches, their hands are still tied, "Let's get straight to the point, my plan was to kill all of you and get Horatius as one of my soldiers, but I know that it's impossible, you guys are dear to him like his own family. Now, even though I still don't like this decision of mine, I offer every pirates here in the room to be our ally, we can trade and do other legal transactions, and I will also provide for your region but my position and power is out of it, I will not hold any political shits in your place but it shall receive the same amount of protection and goods just like the kingdoms that I hold. Now, speak for those who do not agree." he announced.
"And what if we decline?" Sayyida asked with a mocking smile.
"Then you die right here right now. This is what we talked about last night, I meant your captain and I together with my loyal dog." he said directly, pertaining to Horace and Tarian who're standing beside him,"So... what do you say?"
Sayyida's mocking grin was immediately erased, "In the end, we don't really have a choice then?"
"Yes." Dex sighed.
"I agree. But I want to know more benefits."
"Aside from the compensation, golds, foods, your region's security, new ships. Then go on and state your wish, all of you."
Horace's first mates started to exchange some looks, communicating using their eyes and expressions. Ade, of course, patiently waited for their response.
Ade's grin grew wider after seeing their head bobbing up and down.
"Well, I'm looking forward to working and bringing peace to all of you then."
