Happy Birthday Jayden

Ethan's POV

It's been an hour since I last heard from Grayson. God, now I'm starting to worry about why he's not answering his text or phone calls. What could they be doing that's taking them so long? No one has mentioned the cake so far but I have the feeling they've thought about it. Also about Grayson's absence. Some people have asked about Grayson but I just made some dumb excuse so they could get off my ass. It would be embarrassing if I tell them where he actually went. I don't want anyone, especially Jayden, to think that we planned this party last minute only because we didn't have a cake. Which it isn't. The only person that knows about the cake situation outside of the people I live with is Liam. I had no choice but to tell him since he and I made the original cake together.

I can't distract everyone for that much longer anymore. Thankfully everyone is already distracted by talking to the birthday boy and playing all the games, Jeremy, Anna, and I have set up. Though this won't last for much longer until people start to wonder about Grayson and the cake. I take a long sigh as I've come to the conclusion that they won't come back anytime soon. He leads me with no choice but to tell everyone that we have no cake.

Goddamint Grayson, you had one job.

'We got the cake!!' Grayson's text notification appears on my phone.

Not a minute later, Grayson and Kevin slam the door open holding two cakes in their hands.

THANK GOD

Everyone gets enthusiastic when they see them holding the cake, including me. Too excited that I didn't even realize... Why is Grayson wearing Kevin's unzipped hoodie? And why do both of them have messy hair? I begin to wonder who Kevin even was. Now that I think about it, Grayson did seem all weird when he was introducing him to me. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now it gets me thinking... why did they take so long? I hope Grayson remembers he has a girlfriend because if he did what I think he did with his 'friend', then he's in serious trouble. I'm not normally the type of guy to jump to conclusions but... what other likely conclusion could it be?

I'll have to keep my eye out on those two...

Jayden's POV

After everyone sang me happy birthday, Grayson and Jermey pushed my head down on the cake. My face was completely smeared with frosting. Everyone gave out a good laugh at how ridiculous I looked afterward. Including myself. Thankfully there were two cakes.

Once I finished wiping the frosting off my face in the bathroom, everyone had already taken a piece of the cake. Kristal saved me the biggest slice ahead of time. Liam was with me for a good portion of the time, but he switched over to talk to Ethan. I've also caught up with Nathan too. He's been my friend since High School, but we haven't caught up ever since I moved here. He's always been cute and flirty with me, but not in the unhinged, fuckboy type of way. He's always had a silly personality I guess. The last time I hung out with him was that night when we were dancing at the Youtube party. He also had a brother named Mark but unfortunately, he got shot that same night. Nathan took him to the hospital but his wounds were too severe to make a recovery. He died the next day. Along with a bunch of other people that night, including Cameron. But I wouldn't like to think about that right now.

Everyone all separated into their own groups talking with each other, while I was left here eating my big ass piece of cake. Sitting on the exact stool where Grayson broke up with me in.

Speaking of Grayson. He sneaks up from behind and sits down beside me. He leans his right arm against the kitchen island and smiles at me. I hate how his cute smile always manages to warm up my heart. "Hey." He says to me. "Hey," I say back. "Happy birthday." He sincerely says. I smile back. "Thanks" I slightly giggle.
