[ Chapter 17 ]
Fairy tales.
Placed in our distant past. Often tied to the mystical wonders of magic, told through the lens of wonder. The stories children grow up with are a delve into the human mind's source of imagination. The stories that find themselves marked down in history, fiction nor not, are ones of epic proportion.
Some are a rushing wave of adventure, pulling you into a ride that rises and falls with each act. Only to find out that the treasure the dear protagonist searched far and wide for, was one he made along the way.
Others are tales of love and discovery. A mermaid falling in love with but a simple fisherman, giving all she had to capture his heart, only to toyed with by a villainous witch...
Though the oldest are tales of good and evil. "Hero vs Villain", and at times even the villain carries a point worth fighting for. Showing that even evil can have intentions based in good, for even the villain once stood for righteousness.
Yet the ones we consider classics, they're most commonly stories of princes and princesses, or even a beauty and beast falling in holy matrimony.
But, no matter the bumps or slumps, high or lows these stories give and show. They always, no matter the struggle introduced, or found...end happily.
The prince awakes the sleeping beauty.
The little mermaid marries her destined lover.
And, even the beast finds a woman to call his.
Yes, fairy tails are wonderful are they not? A land tied to magic, populated by dragons and all sorts of tall and small beasts that are nothing short of extraordinary in the eyes of the modern man! So, it is a shame then. That in our modern age, we regard and even scoff at such things as "make believe". Since, though the days may have passed...
There was once an era...
One of wonders...
Where even man could challenge the almighty gods!
Fight terrifying creatures...
And, even capture the hearts of maidens by just the skill he earned.
For even magus of those days could rival and even touch the realm held by those called magicians.
A very special era indeed...
An "Age of Gods!"
There was a great dichotomy in the earth. As even the very land was forgein to the one we commonly know. The realm was like eden, prosperous and evergreen. One would never go hungry as no matter where one would look, fruits lined the bushes and trees. Pools, ponds, and rivers of water seemed to flow unrestricted by the land, providing drink for all that thirsted.
Yet, while the earth, land below was colored in blazing sunlight, so bright it would seem summer has arrived...
The sky above was closer to darkness. Odd it was, the earth below represented the day, while the sky above which should be a light blue, was shades away from black. And in place of the sun, was the moon shining as the world's beacon of light. The night sky contrasted, and even mocked the day light ground, spreading itself far and wide, showing that there was no sun to be found.
It was a violation of every earthly rule to date. No sense could be made, as nothing natural could cause such a change. Unless...
This world was but a simple dream, one of a child whose vision was beyond many, and stretched beyond that of humanity's.
