"It's been around seventeen years since that day... Right, Master?"

"But, it never feels like that, as if I've always known you... I don't expect to wake up without you there..."

"Because it's as if we've become instruments in our lives, only ever played right when together..."

"We're the harmony to our heartbeats.

"Sorry, I wanted to say something creative... Just seemed like something you'd say..."

"Dumbass..."

"Hah...huff...huff... You are a strong girl, aren't ya?"

Huffing and catching his breath, he wiped his lips of blood, a line of sweat falling down his neck. Feeling his skin hot, his body warm, and only able to feel his heartbeat, the young man, despite the pain in his arms and legs, just laughed. Chuckling at the beast before him, too tired to want to continue trying to kill her.

She had his respect.

"Grrrrrr...."

Larger than any elk, Moose, or bear, this towering and ferocious beast was covered in a gray coat of fur. Sharp yet cozy looking to the eye, the gray wolf with light blue eyes matched the terror that was her form with the look in her eyes. A hungry, starved animal at its very worst, with a mind hellbent on living, wishing to make a meal out of the young man that stood only feet away from her.

Alone in a field, a good distance away from the dirt road, the green grass swayed as the wind came, cooling off both of them, bringing mild relief to their plight. The sun's heat was overbearing, while the flies danced around their bodies, threatening to land on their forms that struggled to stand, and if one were to fall, the crows would pick at them. A mix of orange and blue colored the sky as shades of maroon and fresh crimson flowed and dried on their forms.

They had beaten the ever-loving piss out of each other.

Unsure of how their fight exactly began, both having different reasons and stories, they took pieces from each other. The man's arms were bitten and torn, while his clothes were tattered and hung on his form, alongside this, his dirty hands were covered in both his and the wolf's blood, having been caught between her monstrous jaws at one point, he paid her back dearly. The large sword in her left side is evidence of just that. With red hair, and golden eyes, he sported a weak grin, somehow, he couldn't find it himself to want to continue.

Hell, he just began laughing. Finding joy in roughhousing.

With a blade in her side, blood dying her gray fur red as the wound wouldn't close. She struggled to stand, her legs threatening to collapse as her body stiffened. Staring at him, the beast was ready for anything, willing to give it one last charge if it meant living. While her vision began to go blurry, she could still make out his figure, his hair, his clothes, his eyes, and the laughter that poured from his mouth. She couldn't sense any hostility from him any longer, but she refused to trust that, narrowing her eyes at him, trying to make her vision as clear as possible in case the moment came.
