Craig
(last day of school before winter break)
I know it's technically the last day of school before winter break, but I'm excited to see the look on Russell's face when he finds out that Samantha's mom just canceled the rest of her stay in their dorm. She will have no choice now but to move out with me.
I can't help but smile from ear to ear. "Now, the only thing left is to give her the good news and send someone to her dorm over the winter break to get her stuff out of that horrible place." Mrs. Adam says, making me feel enlivened.
"She will warm up to you eventually, son. You two were madly in love before." mom adds.
"Of course she still loves him. She's only dating that Russell kid to get to my nerves. This has nothing to do with how she feels about you, Craig." she says, patting my shoulder.
"I know my daughter. She has always tried to defy me. This is just a phase of hers. She needs to understand that there are consequences to her bad behavior. And the influence of that girl, Kim, and this...Russell has on her has to come to an end. I will not have a daughter of mine be seen with some nobody who clearly has no future to uphold for her."
We walked out of the office and went back toward Sam's dorm, it's pretty late, so I'm sure she should be back by now. I had already presented my last exam and was free for the rest of the day.
I can't wait to have that apartment set up just as I want it. What else can I want or need? I have the life I want, attend the university I want, the place I wanted is now mine, and soon, Sam will be mine again.

Sam
I sat in my last class of the day. I was exhausted, tired, and sleepy. But, my mind returned to last night and the few previous nights. Russell and I have been sleeping together, and when I say sleeping together...I mean, the man is a beast in bed.
The long days of the last exams have made my long day worth just thinking of Russell, bringing a smile to my face. I have never experienced nights like the last few nights, and being honest... I wish I were back in Russell's arms right now. I was glad my last final was over. Our teacher only gave us a small essay to write as our final.
I closed my eyes, shook my head, and tried focusing on what the professor said.
"Ok, it looks like everyone has turned their essays in. Thank you, everyone; you are dismissed. See you next semester. Enjoy your winter break," she smiles, tapping all the papers on the top of her desk and placing them in her portfolio.
Everyone gathered their things, and we all exited the school.
Russell had sent me a message informing me that my dad was in our dorm waiting for us. Since we only had a few hours left of school before winter break, he decided to take the rest of the work day off and visit us.
Mom doesn't know that I changed my winter break plans or that dad is aware and is ok with my changes. I will be going with Russell to Tennessee to meet his uncle instead of going with them to the cabin like we do every year.
It was a last-minute thing as he asked me to leave with him three nights ago. I was glad we could still find tickets, being the holidays and all.
Boy, am I tired, though. I'm glad I listened to Russell and packed my bags last night. My phone rang just as I was getting out of the building, and I couldn't help but smile seeing Russell's name on the caller id.
"Hi, everything ok?" I ask, getting a slight chuckle in return.
"Your dad has taken over the kitchen again. He's making Stromboli. The whole building smells like fresh herbs and home-baked pizza." I couldn't help but let out a slight moan. Dad makes the best Stromboli, and he loves making them fresh from scratch.
"Oh, God. He's giving us a push into the holiday spirit, isn't he?" We laugh. It's been so chaotic that we completely lost the notion of everything.
It doesn't even feel like Christmas is around the corner. We've both been so busy trying to get finals out of the way.
"Well, he did come wearing a Christmas sweater, and he brought one for you and a matching one for me." I burst out laughing as I come closer to my dorm.
"I bet you anything that he's got one for Kim and Brandon," I add as I open the door to my dorm building.
"Oh, you know him too well. He bought a pair for them and will give them to them once he sees them next week."
"Where is he now? Still cooking away in the kitchen?" I begin walking up the stairs, passing by many students ready to leave their houses and see their families.
"No, he told me to keep an eye on the Stromboli while he takes a quick shower. He should be done soon. It's been a while since he went in there."
"Great, I'm already here. See you inside." I smiled and hung up the phone. I walked up the last steps and made my way through my hallway.
Once at my door, I opened it and went inside. I couldn't help but smile at the feel of butterflies in my stomach when I saw Russell standing next to the oven bringing out dad's Stromboli.
"Honey, I'm home," I say, making him chuckle. I walk over, place my books and bag down and kiss him on his lips.
He wraps his hands around my waist, pulling me close to him as he returns the kiss.
"Hi, babe." Babe... I can get used to that. It sounds so good on his lips.
"How was your last final?" he asks as he places the dish towel on his shoulder and grabs his cup of coffee, taking a small sip from it.
"It was swift. The professor had us write an essay for our final." he looked at me amused and smiled.
"Wow, looks like an easy A," he says, and I agree.
"Definitely Aced that test; I know it," I say, wrapping my hands around his waist and kissing his lips again.
There was a knock on the door that made us both turn. "Are you expecting someone?" he asks, making me nod. "No, are you?"
"No. Let me get it," he says, walking towards the door.
His eyes widen, as do mine, when I see my mom standing at the door. She looks mad, real mad.
I'm unsure what she is doing here, but I know it's nothing good. "Well... Aren't you going to invite me in? Or did you not learn that kind of modality either?" she says, making Russell clear his throat and move to a side, gesturing for her to come in.
"Of course, Mrs. Adam, come in."
She walks past him; her head held high. Something in me tells me she is not here to say Merry Christmas.
