Sam

"Damn. What am I supposed to do now? Just when I thought things couldn't get any more complicated, Russell and I get thrown another curve ball.

Fred looked at Andrew menacingly, then let go of his shirt and I knew I had to stay unseen. I quickly hid behind the wall on the back of a small tree and waited until they both left back to the table. I quickly went into the restroom, but honestly, I didn't have to go. I just wanted to step away and calm my nerves for a bit, so that's what I did.

I went into that bathroom, that by the way was pretty nice. I took a few deep breaths, looked at myself, and laughed. I had to give it to the b9g guy up in heaven. He was really making things hard for us, not holding back one bit. I had a feeling things were not done being complicated, I just hope I can help Russell through it all.

I shook my head in disbelief, placing my hands on either side of the sink, and sighed. "Ok, Sam. We can do this. Right? We... We can handle this. I mean, I doubt uncle Fred was serious. Russell can't be in any trouble with these people, right?" I reassured myself that things would be ok, but I really don't. And it's driving me crazy.

I groaned, turned myself around, and dragged my happy feet back to the table.

The rest of the night was pretty awkward. We finished eating in silence. Andrew made small talk with Russell, but other than that... Nothing. We said good night and parted ways. Not once did uncle Fred mentioned the confrontation, nor did he make any added remarks to Andrew.

I was glad though, I seriously thought he'd make him cry. But- if Andrew is his nephew as well, why did he treat him so badly? And what exactly did he mean when he told him to give back what belongs to Russell? What could they've taken away from him?

God- there are so many questions roaming through my head, that it's making me dizzy.

"Sam? Is everything ok?" Russell asks as we lay in bed, ready to go to sleep. This day drained my energy completely. I don't know what to do. Should I tell him? Should I not?

Damn it- why? Why did things have to get more complicated?

"Uh, n- no. Everything is fine. What about you? I saw you a bit serious today. You looked so enthusiastic about meeting with Andrew today." he looks at me with concern. I know there must be a lot going on in that head of his.

His uncle seemed so nice and collected. I never thought he would act so aggressively toward someone else, let alone his own nephew.

He lays flat on his back, looking up at the ceiling as he sighs. "You know, I never thought I'd make it to a show in Vegas. I'm... Nervous I guess. But," he pauses, turning to see me.

"Did you find my uncle's behavior a bit odd today? Wasn't he acting a bit... Strange to you?" he asks, making my eyes widen.

"Actually, Russell. I uh... I have something to tell you." I say as I bite my bottom lip, hoping to not complicate things more.

I know he loves his uncle, and he is all he has, but... I can't keep this from him. He has the right to know.

I moved my body to face him and sighed. I tell him everything I saw. Told him everything I heard both men say. His expression was concerned, but he still lay there, quiet, listening to every word I said.

He was hurt, and mad, and I'm honestly not sure what he will do now. "Sam, are you sure you heard him say that Andrew and I are related?" he asks, with his jaw clenched, and eyes dark.

"I... Can't believe this. I always thought it was odd that my uncle never kept family photos around his house. Not one picture of his family, not even my dad. I figured it was only because he felt ashamed of himself. He kept saying he was the deadbeat- black sheep of the family. That he had left. After all, he felt they were better off without him because he was always causing them trouble." he says, as he pulls me by the waist, burying his head on the curve of my neck, sighing deeply.

"I'm sorry, Russ. I didn't mean to make things worse for you. Today hasn't been easy for us. I mean, Christmas just passed, and look at all the shit going on? God, I should have just stayed seated in my chair next to you at the restaurant." I say, making him pull back enough to give me a furrowed look.

"Sam! Are you serious? If it wasn't for you, I would have never found out. I mean, yeah, I would have preferred to have met my cousin under different circumstances, but, at least I finally met one of them. Do you have any idea how long it's been since I met or saw any of them? And look at him? It's no wonder people at the gym kept asking if we were related." he says, placing his palm over his forehead.

Now- I know I should be supportive, and listen to him, but damn... The way his muscles contracted on his nicely just doing that little move... my GOD!

"I need to talk to him. I have so many questions. But, one thing's for sure. I can't keep taking his money. I'm going to have to tell him the contract is off. I can't keep letting him be my sponsor. But- first things first," he says as he leans down and kisses my forehead.

"I need to talk to uncle Fred first and make him explain why he would keep all this from me. Whatever it was Andrew was talking about... I don't care, they can have it. I'm sure dad would have liked it this way. If anything, I owe him my gratitude, for trying to reach out and help me." he says, making me feel surprised.

I wasn't expecting him to be so calm about all this. I have rarely seen Russell mad, and I'm scared of how he will react when I finally see him like that.

"But what do you think it could be? What if it's something big... Something of great value? Aren't you at least a little curious to know?" I asked, making him turn to look heavenward. "I don't know. I guess since I don't have it now, it didn't strike me that I would need it. Whatever it is. But, maybe I can ask him. I doubt his dad is really a dangerous person like our uncle Fred says. I mean, we Knights are a bit temperamental, but if I learned to control it, I'm sure they have too." he says, smiling and kissing my lips.

"Don't worry about it anymore, Ok? I will deal with this. Let's just go to sleep." he says as he snuggles closer, and cuddles with me. Figaro was sound asleep in his new little bed mom had bought him.
