Sam
I had a beautiful Christmas day with Russell, his uncle, and Phoebe. We did so much; from exchanging our gifts, to bak9ng cookies, getting visits from neighbors with more plates of food, and more.
I ended giving Russell a whole body armour suit to protect him when he's riding his bike. He only has a helmet, and it worries me that he could get hurt.
He in return, gave me a beautiful necklace with a kitten pendant, making me miss Figaro. He also gave me my own pink and gold helmet to ride with him on his bike.
We even had a nice chat with dad over the phone, but what really threw me off was that mom was actually nice to Russell over the phone. She actually told him she was look9nb forward to seeing us back for New Year's. Wh9ch, she overheard when I told dad about what Russell does on the side for a living, and that we had to be back for a match in Vegas.
I thought he was going to be mad, since he's not the violent type. But, he was actually ecstatic to go with us. By the way, so are uncle Fred and Phoebe. Now that uncle Fred knows that Knight Enterprise is Russell's sponsor, he wants to keep a close eye on him. So, he announced to us that he's tagging along.
Russell's trainer had called him, urging him to return before his big match on New Year's Eve. So, we had no choice but to hop on an airplane back to California. Thanks to his representative from Knights Enterprise, we were able to get last minute tickets to fly back.
And this is how we ended in the airport on a Christmas afternoon, boarding a plane.
Once we got back to the airport in California, we stopped to get food, and then headed to our dorm. Uncle Fred and Phoebe decided on staying in a nearby hotel, just fifteen minutes from our dorm.
"I can't wait to get inside, it's so cold and windy." I say as we grabbed our luggage from the taxicab and shook from a shiver I felt on my arms. It was pretty cold in Tennessee, but not windy like it is here.
Russell chuckles, and grabs the rest of our bags and pays the driver. "Come on. Let's head inside." he says, gesturing to the building. We made our way in, feeling awkward as the halls are still empty from the students still being home or on vacation.
"Figaro, we're home!" I said slowly as we entered our firm, but there was no answer. I looked around, looking for him, with nowhere to find him. I became worried, looking frantically into every space.
"Are you sure your dad was going to bring him back today? Maybe he's still not here. Maybe we should call him." Russell suggested as he took his phone out of his back pocket to dial dad's number.
"No need to call anyone. As a matter of fact!" my heart sank as our building monitor came in, making us turn.
"You both should start packing the rest of your stuff. As of today, you two are no longer allowed in this dorm," she says, making me startled. Russell looked at me, concerned as well.
"Wait. What?" I say, turning toward her.
"Ma'am, with all due respect, may I know why you are kicking us out?" Russell adds, tilting his head and making her roll her eyes, sighing.
"As if you didn't know." she scuffs, making me uneasy.
"You know darn well-no animals in the building. Oh yes, you broke the rules, and you two know that there is zero tolerance for violating any of the rules. Now I already spoke to your dad the minute he came back in here with that furry demon."
"But"
"No buts. Now get your stuff and get out."
"Wait! There's gotta be something we can do. Can't we agree to some sort? Come on! We have never broken a single rule, and you know it?" Russell says, trying to convince her to let us stay.
She turns, unbothered by our word. She waves her hand, walking out as we both follow behind.
"Please, ma'am. Give us a chance." Russell continues, making her stop in her tracks, sighs, and turns to face us.
"If I go away in you, you know what will happen?" she asks, making us look at one another.
"Everyone around here will start doing more shenanigans, thinking they can get away with everything. And what does that say about me, huh?"
At this moment, I was glad most everyone was still on vacation for the holidays. It will be three more weeks until everyone returns for the new semester.
"NO! now, I'm sorry, guys. But rules are rules. It would be best if you had thought about it twice before bringing that wicked fur ball." She says making me gasp.
How dare she speak of my baby like that?
"He is not wicked! He's the cutest, nicest little angel you have ever seen." I answer, crossing my hands over my chest.
She rolls her eyes, sighing and nodding her head. "I'll give you two days to move out. Afterward, I will have the custodians take the remainder of your belongings out in the hallway. I'm sorry, guys, but rules are rules." she looks at us with pity before pursing her lips and turning around.
We are both left in an empty hall, feeling desolate and bewildered. "Russ. I... I am so sorry. This is all my fault. I was the one who begged you for me to keep Figaro." I said as I looked into space, feeling shattered.
Russell hugs me, kissing the top of my head and sighing. "No. No, Sam, its not your fault. I should of known bringing Figaro here in the first place was a bad idea. It's my fault we got kicked out of the dorm."
The question really isn't who's fault it is, rather... where are we going to live now? We have two days.
Two days to move out, and just two weeks for Russell to be in Vegas for his big match. We'll have no choice but to stay in the hotel with uncle Fred and Phoebe for now.
Plus, Russell is going to be busy working out, and getting ready for his match.
Which means it will be up to me to find a place for us to live.
