The truth is- As much as I wanted to be , as at my uncle from keeping this big secret from me, I can't. I am accountable for this as well, for I knew something was off. I had to be pretty stupid for me to not realize the similarities in their last name and the fact we did resemble each other.

I wanted to act as if I was ok, but inside I was a mess. Even with my suspicions, I was still hopeful that everything was mere coincidence. How could this be? Andrew, really is my family. I have never heard from them since the day of my parent's funeral. He must have been a teenager at the time, while I had just turned ten years old, but I remember. I remember him and his younger brother, vaguely, but I can still somewhat recall them.

I was still small, but I still remember. The big house, fancy clothes, dad working for Knight's enterprise. He was one of the best, always swamped with highly-stacked files in his office. I can still, though faintly, remember mom's beautiful scent. In my mind I wondered if maybe Knights enterprise was my grandfathers, though I never got to meet him, but I never asked. Dad was content with his work, and mom was too. And as long as they were c0ntent, then so was I. We were happy, and that's all that mattered.

I miss mom. She always smelled like fresh magnolias and had a big smile on her face. Nothing seemed to phase her. I was the luckiest guy with them. We were a happy family. Then the night came when they left me with our house keeper for the night to attend a party. They never came back.

I was so unease that day, I had nightmares and scared for some odd reasons I could not comprehend. Then the door banging, your house keeper opening the door, and the officer telling her the news. The gasp and terror in her voice could not commensurate with what I felt by the news.

That's when Uncle Fred came. I hadn't seen him since I was around eight, but I remembered his strong demeanor. He looked like those cowboys in those hallmark movies mom would watch every night. Dad would grunt, but it was like a ritual to her. So- he would sit through and watch them anyway, just to see her smile.

They'd cuddle up, eat popcorn and watch until she would fall asleep. He'd then take her to bed, and go back to work on his files, but not before checking on me.

I loved when he would tuck me in, and kissed my forehead. I miss them; I miss them terribly.

When Uncle Fred came, he took care of everything. Funeral arrangements, signing their death certificate- everything; including me.

✨✨FLASHBACK✨✨

Ten Year Old Russell

I sat crying in bed, holding my pillow to my chest, wearing a black suit with a white button up. Dad and mom had just been buried. I want to believe it was all a dream, but... They're never coming back.

I gathered strength and walked downstairs. I wanted to see dad's office, hoping that if I walked in, he would be there, behind endless files reading and writing away. He'd look over his glasses and smile, putting his pen down and telling me to sit next to him. He'd call for our housekeeper and she would bring fresh cookies with hot cocoa for us while we talked about any nonsense that came to mind.

But as I got closer, I could faintly hear yelling from inside his office. I managed to open it just slightly before it made a creaking sound. Uncle Fred and another man stood facing each other, they resembled each other somehow. My uncle was rigid, with str0ng features and gave off his hard w0rk demeanor, while the other looked poised, stood straight, with head held high, skin flawless and hands as smooth as a woman. He looked like those who had never seen a day of hard labor other than behind a desk.

They both looked so mad. I could tell they were arguing, but they went silent when they heard the creaking sound.

Uncle Fred cleared his throat, rubbing the back of his head and looked away. His eyes gave out, becoming soft as he saw my small frail body. His eyes watered and he quickly came to hug me. "Hey, buddy. You're still up. Look, why don't you go to the kitchen and get something to eat. Can you do that? I'll be out in a few minutes, ok?" he asks, and I was in no mood to ask anything.

I just wanted my parents back.

"Ok." I obliged, turning on my heels and walking away, but soon as the door closed, I stood there listening. "Youll regret this one day, Cay. I promise you that. I'll take Rus with me, but when he's old enough and wants revenge, I will not stop him. On the contrary, you better guard your ass, because when he does, I personally will make sure you fall, and you fall hard. I , at not have evidence but-"

"Russell? What are you doing, sweety?" our house keeper says, startling me. I turn feeling like a culprit getting caught with his hand inside the cookie jar. My eyes bulged as I jumped being startled. "I, I'm... No- nothing."

Her lips pull into a sad smile. I can tell she really cared for my parents. He reyes were puffy, giving her away that she had been crying too.

"Your uncle told me he's taking you with him to Tennessee where he lives." she says before she begins to cry, going on her knees and hugging me.

"I still can't believe they're gone. I miss them so much, what am I going to do now? I have worked for your parents since they got married, how can I cope? And now, you're leaving me too." she says hugging me tightly, and I couldn't help but begin to sob in front of her.

She was an elder lady and had become like a grandmother to me. I was scared that I may never see her again. I lost my parents, and now I had to leave my home too, and Linda, our house keeper who I loved so much. She was like family to me. What am going to do now?
