Book Two: My Forever Love

Chapter Seventeen

Edeline’s P.O.V
It was finally the day of the Second Task and I was walking with Neville and Harry as we made our way to the boats as Neville gave us the Gillyweed, “are you sure about this Neville?” Harry asked him, “absolutely.” Neville said, “for an hour?” I asked him, “Most Likely.” Neville said, “what do you mean ‘most likely’?” I asked him, “well, there is some debate among Herbologists as to the effects of fresh water versus salt water.” Neville told us, “you’re telling us this now? You must be joking.” Harry said to him, “I just wanted to help,” Neville said to us, “well, that makes you a right sight better than Ron and Hermione. Where are they anyways?” Harry said and I began to wonder where mum could be, “now that you mention it, I wonder where mum is.” I said as I looked around and didn’t see her “you two seem a little tense Harry and Edeline.” Neville said to us and I sighed a little, “do we?” Harry questioned before I spoke up, “I think I’m a little more than just tense at the moment.” I said to him before we had gotten on the boat and made it to one of the tall platforms that stood in the Black Lake and I stood next to Harry and Cedric as Dumbledore began to speak, “Welcome to the Second Task. Last night, something was stolen from each of our Champions. A treasure of sorts. These five Treasures, one for each Champion, now lie on the bottom of the Black Lake. In order to win, each Champion need only find their treasure and return to the surface. Simple enough, except for this, they will have but one hour to do so, and one hour only. After that, they’ll be on their own. No Magic will save them. You may begin at the sound of the cannon.” and as Dumbledore explained, both Harry and I had managed to put the Gillyweed in our mouths before we both had jumped into the water.

After a while of swimming around, I began to hear the same voice singing the song from the egg and managed to follow it only to find five people tied by their ankles and I swam to them and once I had gotten closer, I saw my mum floating there and I managed to get her untied before Cedric and Harry had come around as well and eventually, both Cedric and I made it back to the surface and both my mother and I swan to the dock and managed to get ourselves on, “you did good dear.” she said to me and I smiled a little as a towel was wrapped around me and saw that it was Hermione, “how are you feeling, you must be freezing.” Hermione said to me, “I’m fine, just a little cold.” I said to her before we had waited for Harry as the others were already here and after a while longer, both Ron and the girl came to the surface and I was one of the people to help them up along with Fleur and I managed to get Ron up and shorty after, Harry managed to jump out of the water and land on the dock and I rushed over to him along with some of the others before Fluer came up to us, “you saved her, even though she wasn’t yours to save. my little sister. Thank you.” Fluer said to Harry and she kissed both cheeks and had done the same to me before walking over to Ron, “and you, you helped.” she said to him, “well, yeah, a bit.” Ron said to her and I chuckled a little when she had also kissed his cheeks as well before Hermione rushed over, “Harry. Are you alright? You must be freezing.” she said to him as she gave him her towel, “Personally, I think you behaved admirably.” she said to him, “I finished last, Hermione.” Harry said to her, “next to last. Fluer never got past the Grindylows.” Hermione said to him before Dumbledore managed to get everyone’s attention, “ATTENTION. The winner is Mr. Diggory, who showed innate command of the Bubble-Head Charm. However seeing as Mr. Potter would have finished first, had it not been for his determination to rescue not only Mr. Weasley but the other’s as well, we’ve agreed to award him second place as he will also be tied with his cousin, Miss. Lupin for outstanding Moral Fiber.” Dumbledore said and I smiled as I hugged Harry and everyone managed to make it back to the boats.    

Rosalie’s P.O.V
After everything was over and we all made it back to land and we were making our way back to the Castle and once we had gotten there, I made sure that Edeline was alright as the both of us had made it to my room to get changed into something dry and comfortable before the both of us talked about the Task for a while, “so what did Professor McGonagall want to talk about? Was it about the Second Task?” she asked me and I nodded, “yes it was, Hermione, Ron, Cho and Fluer’s younger sister Gabriella were there also.” I told her and she nodded, “you did good though darling. But it will get harder in the Final Task though so you have to keep this up alright and whatever the Third Task is, keep your eyes open and pay attention to your surroundings alright.” I told her and she nodded, “I will mum.” she said and I smiled a little and kissed the top of her head, “by the way, I’m going to be with Harry, Ron and Hermione tonight as the four of us will be with Hagrid if that’s alright with you.” she said to me, “of course it’s alright with me. Just stay close to Harry and the others though ok.” I told her and she nodded as she smiled before leaving the room and I let out a sigh and thought about earlier today and had decided to write to Remus about the Second Task and that Harry and Edeline had gotten a tie for second place for the Second Task.
