"Come on Y/n, let's go," I heard my dad say as we stopped at Shindou's mansion.

I stepped outside the car observing the massive building, not that I hadn't seen it before. To tell the truth, I spend most of my time at the mansion than in my own house, just to see my only childhood best friend: Shindou. Tonight, we were going to have dinner with the Shindou family.

We walked to the door and were greeted by Shindou's mother, which with a bright smile, welcomed us inside the house.

"Ahh... you're here, please come inside"

We stepped into their living room, where both parents began having conversations about business and stuff which I had no idea about.

"Y/n, you can go upstairs and meet Shindou", Shindou's dad said to me. I nodded smiling, making my way up the spiral stairs, towards the room of the young boy.

I knocked at the door and heard a "come in" and slowly opened the door. Shindou turned around to face me from his desk and brightly smiled at me.

"Hi Y/n" He said with a still smile.

"Hi Shindou, what were you doing?" I said smiling back at him.

"Ah nothing really, I was just revising my music sheets," He said, picking up a few sheets from his desk. I walked toward him and picked up one of the sheets.

"Moonlight" I said observing the piece before me.

"Yup, you want me to teach you how to play it?" he said and I nodded. Shindou had been teaching me how to play the piano for a while now and I could say I was getting better. He was so sweet and patient with me,  that I can't help but always want to be around him.

After a few conversations about Music and Football, we decided it was time to go downstairs.

We made our way out to the living room, where the elders sat.

"Shindou, Y/n come sit " We got closer to them and sat on a separate couch from them, next to each other.

"Shindou would you like to play something for us before we go and have dinner together " Mrs Shindou suggested and Shindou nodded, moving towards the Grand piano.

He sat on the chair and began playing a familiar piece: Für Elise. I observed as his fingers brushed against the keys, moving from a moderated rate to a more accelerated pace. I was struck in awe by the sound. Shindou was always able to leave me mesmerized by his majestic compositions.

He effortlessly impressed my parents every time to the point where I believe they wished he was their son. Since childhood I had always been compared to him by them, wishing I'd become better and honestly I wished that too. I never blamed him for anything as I love and cared for my best friend. Even after getting into football and working hard for my skills, my parents can't seem to recognize my potential as all they see is my prestigious friend and his abilities,  neglecting mine.
