Sand beneath her feet wriggled itself in between her toes and burned its imprint into the soft skin. Right at her final moment she appeared on this beach, instead of living out her final sight of the school she had come to love. Her uniform baked against the suns rays, causing the hidden skin to sweat. It was untouched and in usable condition, unlike how it was ripped to shreds when she fought Fushiguro.
The figure she saw was stationary and sat down calmly on the burning sand. Her gait projected her obvious impatience to understand where she was and how she got here, as she increasingly walked faster. This was the only person she saw on this beach since waking up and they hadn't noticed her yet, or more like they didn't try to.
"He-" Her voice had come through as a scratch, and was painful to even use. It seemed as if Fushiguro's cutting of her throat and neck had actually affected her and clipped her vocal cords beyond repair. The sand suddenly became hotter, leaving Rintaro the only choice to run towards the shallow end of the water to cool off her feet.
Her ankles had immediately froze and sent a chill through her spine at the cool water. She lifted her heel to examine it, noting the bright red tint the heated sand gifted her. From here she began to jog over to the unknown figure a little ways away, splashing water up underneath her feet and wetting her upper legs.
She was about 1000 feet away now, and she could make out the white hair that swayed in the wind atop the persons head. Toru? Water kicked up faster as her legs accommodated to her new sprinting speed, eager to see her beloved brother.
Rintaro was only several feet away, when the figure had turned to look at her. He seemed to smile and wave at her, already expecting her arrival. Her small hand rose to wave back excitedly. Her pace quickened again as she came closer and closer by the second, now just 30 feet away.
Satoru's arms had opened up, beckoning her for a hug. She decidedly opened hers as well and fell into him to crash her fall. She wrapped her arms around sand... The excruciating heat of it burned at her skin, turning it a light red.
She pressed her palms against the sand, confusedly pushing herself up. Satoru was no longer there. I know I didn't imagine that, where did he go? Her mind couldn't process what had just happened, especially since he was just physically there and clearly reacting her.
Where are you, Toru? Rintaro tried her best to concentrate on her thoughts, as well as tap into her twins mind. But there was nothing. All that came through was silence and the sound of the waves washing up on shore through her own ears.
Tears began to well up in her eyes, blurring the sight of the blue sky and small clouds as they passed. She was here alone, and her only hope of anyone else's presence here has just disappeared. Light sobs escaped her lips as her tears slowly slid down her face.
"Rin... No. No. This is a fucking dream. Satoru wake the hell up." The loud boom of her brothers voice echoed through the empty stretch of the beach.
Her head perked up, lifting her broken spirits. She looked left and right, looking around for her brother that just called out to her. The hurt and fatigue was evident in his voice, and she could only imagine what made him feel that way.
"Rin, please you can't die like this. I was supposed to protect you. Why couldn't I just keep you out of harms way and keep you safe? Please why won't you just heal? Just fucking do something!" Im truly dead? Satoru's voice began to crack through his words, his words of the sad reality.
