And yet, it seemed untouched and spotless. He threw himself onto the soft mattress, wrinkling the ironed sheets the maids worked so hard for. He closed his eyes to avoid the light from shining into them. The headache felt as if it had gotten worse at this exact moment.
He exaggeratively sighed in desperate need of any type of painkiller. He rose from the springy mattress and left his room, now standing awkwardly in the hallway. He looked for any maid in sight who might have something on hand, but no one was ever allowed into his wing of the home.
His eyes wandered to the opposite end of the hallway, meeting the sight of a door facing his. His thoughts began to run wild. Has that door always been there? How curiosity took control as he tip toed toward the empty feeling door.
Satoru stopped just in front of the door and his breath hitched. The room felt off. It felt familiar, despite his not remembering anything about this particular door. Spontaneously, he reached for the doorknob, stopping just as it began to turn for him.
He stood in place, completely frozen, unaware of what he should expect once the door magically opened for him. Instead, a maid exited the room, creating space between the unknown door and him.
Her cheeks reddened of embarrassment at the sudden surprise of the future head of the clan. "Oh, hello Master Satoru." She dropped the supplies in her hand and reached up to cover her face, blush peeking through her fingers.
He ignored her flustered reaction and tried to see around her and gain a glimpse of something in the room. The maid noticed where his attention led and immediately pulled the door in behind her. She turned around quickly and locked the door before returning to face him. "Is there something I can help you with?" She nervously laughed through the realization she screwed up.
Satoru eyed her up and down, his brow raised in annoyance. "What's with this room?" She straightened her posture immediately and cleared her throat.
"I'm actually not sure, I've only been assigned to clean this room about 2 months ago. I clean yours as well, and let me say-" She began to turn side to side while biting her lower lip at him.
"That's disgusting, I'm a minor. And plus I don't want to be with a maid. You serve me, not the other way around." He scoffed and then turned away, walking back to his room.
"It's a little girls room." She squealed out after feeling as if she'd disappointed him. He cocked his head to the side, wanting to know more. "It's always empty from what I've heard, no one knows the little girl that inhabits or used to inhabit the room. Our only orders are to keep it clean."
If it's just a room, why does it need to stay locked. He began to walk toward his room again, this time more confused than he was earlier. He sat down at his desk, closely eyeing the family photos that sat neatly in frames. There's never been any other girl in his family. Who could've had a little girl here? He laid his head down, letting the headache subside from his sudden burst of thoughts.
He needed to ask his mother, it would literally consume him not knowing who it belonged to. And even so, there were hundreds of rooms in this house. Why does someone need a room across from him, the strongest.
Satoru pushed himself up from his chair and left his room once again, this time with the objective of asking his mother for information. He began to wander throughout the halls, scanning every open door or crowded hallway for his mother.
