Thirty Four

The way the subconscious mind works is mysterious
It is designed in way that you are in control of your own projection
Your mind travels on it down the memory lane and you can choose to be a present in that memory even though it was just a story you heard or read somewhere

The moment I crash down everything went still .blank , like I was shut off in a dark room and am all alone

It wasn't the dark that scared me it was how long I was supposed to stay in a blank mind on my own

So the subconscious mind took over, replacing the blank mind with a fragment of memory displaying it in a way it looks so real

My subconscious mind traveled far back in time to before I was born. I went back to when my father was alive

I never met my father but I heard great things about him, every-time I think about my father I just wished he stayed just a little longer so I could meet him

General Shedrach Macaulay was my father, he was an high ranking military personnel and he was well known for his long service and dedication to his country

So apparently my grandfather was a military man too and he had five sons all he enforced to join the army . They were popular known in Port harcourt back in the seventies as the Macaulay boys

My father had already served in the army for over twenty years before he met my mom, they courted for a few years before getting married

Shortly after they got married my father started pursuing his political ambitions , he started by getting his PHD in Law

My mom used to describe my dad has a very reserved man, a gentleman with good manners, very responsible and focused , determined and intellectual

At least the newspaper headlines and articles attested to that fact, They even call him the golden child of the Macaulay clan , apparently he was the only one amongst his brothers that furthered his education to PhD level, he had the highest rank in the army amongst his brothers and he also invested in good business

I guess that's where the rivalry started from, but my father may have prompted the hatred that his brothers had towards him

My mom said they only attended the wedding because my grandfather had insisted that they be present has a family

While his other brothers were busy having getting married and making babies, my dad was focused on his service in the army , dedicating his time to making it to the top

And he accomplished before even thinking of marriage, he married my mom when he was in his mid forties

And shortly after they got married he went abroad for his PhD and when he came back he kicked off his political ambitions

He didn't even start small, maybe a local government chairman or state representative would have been fine, he was running for the office of the governor of River states

My mom didn't like the idea that my father was dedicating his time to everything else other than his family

I guess that was why I didn't come sooner in their marriage , they were married for over five years before I got my visa to come down to earth

The year my father was running for office was the year my mom took in , she begged him to put aside his political ambitions and focus on having Me

Well I guess he didn't want me as bad as he wanted to be governor because am sure if he had listened the story would have ended differently

And to add to his doom my grandfather passed away shortly after he declared his intentions to run for office , the wall shielding my father and backing his political interests shattered and my father was on his own
