My mom had fire in her eyes and i could feel her anger sucking the air in my lungs , I slowly move away from FiFi and she moved her eyes to where my gaze was fixed

FiFi sighed and I could tell she was not ready for whatever is coming next

"Olisa what are you doing?"
My mom's voice was low but coarse with vibration she's definitely trying hard not the bring the roof down

"Ma! I.....Uhmm". I cleared my throat
"I will be right there I just need to speak to FiFi quickly "

"Do you realize the shape you are in right now, you have a battered face , possible broken ribs and you want to stand here and speak when you should be getting first aid "

"I know ma, but ....."

"Olisa! Don't make me repeat myself. Move to the ER now". She half yelled and I had no choice but to let her drag me downstairs because I still want to be with FiFi

I mouthed for her to follow us but I can't say I blame her when she went the other way instead

My mom is going to tear her apart if she does

We got back to the ER and I sat on the bed, my mom called the nurse that was attending to me earlier and was already blaming her for letting her patient leave without first aid care

"Ma! It's not her fault " I tried to clarify

"Of course it's not her fault , she might be dumb but you are extremely stupid Olisa. What exactly is your problem, you don't even know when to draw the line. I look at you and I don't even know what to say"

She vent angrily and I know I deserved it and whatever is going to come next but I just need a moment to check on FiFi, she didn't look so good just now and am worried

Rather than argue with my mom, I let the nurse finish and then I was seen by a doctor who listed out number of tests I needed to run . Another endless routine while they were running tests and I went for X-ray I was expecting my mom to leave my side even if it's for a minute

But she must have figured that I was planning to leave the moment she steps out so she stuck with me till the end of it all until I was giving a room and put on drip

My mother stayed. Even when She was told that I needed food to take my drugs she ordered for it and it was brought to us straight to the room

Sometime later, very late at night she called Dr Archibong and asked if he was in the office, I don't know what he said but she stayed till I was fast asleep

Somehow even with all the fluid in my system my heart was still awake and I got up immediately seizing the only opportunity I have had all day to sneak out

My drip stand was moveable so I didn't go drastic by pulling the whole thing out

I made sure I didn't head anywhere near doctor Archibong's office so I don't run into my mom .
When I got to the reception I tried avoiding nurse Celeste, she's the head nurse and she has known me since I was little, she will definitely send me back upstairs if she sees me

So I dodged her and went straight to the new faces in the building

"Hi nurse Nnnena " I read her name tag

"Hello sir. How may I help you "

"How are you doing "

"Very well thank you"

"Are you new coz I haven't seen your face before "
Desmond told me the best way to ask a stupid question from a lady is by engaging her

"It depends on when last you came here "
