At Buckingham palace, private salon of the Queen Victoria
"My dear, how are you doing recently?" asked the Queen Victoria.
It wasn't every day that one could meet the Queen, a mythical character which turned upside down the place occupied by the monarchy and imposed her influence on the world. The trends were mostly inspired by her opinions on the society and its different aspect. Amelia d'Assy sat in front of her in her purple dress taking a sip of her tea.
"Well, your majesty." She said with a smile.
For most it was unusual for a noble to be summoned at the palace, it meant troubles. Although in her case, it was a common thing which was mostly composed of good moments.
"You haven't been here a lot recently." Her sovereign said taking a bite of cookies in front of her.
"Yes, I was quite busy. I am sorry of this, I missed the excellent pâtisseries." She said, taking a bite of a small croissant.
"Hum ... I see, so you are making some progress on your side?"
"Don't worry, I am in total control of the situation."
"Good but as I told your cousin, don't play around too much. "
"I shall be prudent on that."
It was true Amelia had witnessed what happened when one played too much. Although, she had to say that it was quite funny to see the high-and-mighty Ciel Phantomhive struggles during his punishment.
"How is your mother?"
"Well, from what I understand, she should be arriving at la Province du Québec as we are speak."
"I always thought that this sounds better in French than in English such a pity." The Queen was thinking of something that could change the course of history again. As they were enjoying tea and biscuits, the two Charles entered the room.
As soon as Charles Grey saw Amelia, he started to act like a beaten puppy. He lost any professional composure. He ran by her side.
"Ame ... Ame..!" He pouted almost going against good manners and about to hug her. "I am really sorry about the other day, I didn't mean to anger you...." The gentleman said not knowing what else to say.
Who would have imagined Count Grey acting like this, the favourite of nobility reduced to this? Amelia wanted to laugh until she couldn't breathe.
"It is fine, everything is forgotten. I understand that it was your mission."
At these words, Charles looked as if he had a divine revelation. The Queen laughed at their behaviour. Amelia smirked. Grey sat beside her and the other Charles sat in an armchair.
"Ame, dit c'est vrai ce qu'on raconte?*" Said Grey anxious for an answer.
"What do you mean?" demand Amelia already feeling deeply annoyed by this but did not let any of this show. The Queen tried to hide a small smirk.
"The rumours about you and Mycroft Holmes. Lady Andrea Sheffield said that they saw you get off from a boat two days ago." Said carelessly the Count Grey which took in fact this matter very seriously. The lady could see it from its slightly tensed forehead.
"Oh and let me guess, she tells everyone that I am in a courtship with Holmes?" she said as a matter of fact.
Grey's face reddened, ashamed that she knew exactly what he was asking. The poor lad would have to wait to know what her heart thought of this.
"Oui ?"
Amelia went to grab her hidden dagger in her sleeves. Showing weapons in front of her Majesty was considered a trahison but she knew that the Queen wouldn't take it personally. Rather, she would praise her for always having a weapon at hand to be able to react at any kind of situation.
