Ten years ago, on the shores of the Li River, Guìlín

"大小姐,我到了*" said a farmer.

Amelia wasn't even sure why she was here in the first place. Travelling to the other end of the world as an eleven-year-old lady was by everyone standards normal. Every noble family would be thrilled to be asked by their precious little lady to do such a trip.

They would spill their tea and lose all composure and try to see it as a joke, that is how a normal high class family would react. Although, the d'Assy was anything but normal. They agreed without questions. Nothing strange considering that her mother had travestie** herself as a man and went to France and in China to escape her family obligations.

That is why she was here after one month of travel on the legendary Li River. The boat trip was so long, she had nothing to do except talk with her fellow nobility. Ladies were talking about the recent scandals while gentlemen discuss the recent issue at the house of the Lords.

She was surprised at how much she learned about some seemingly respectable family. She took notes which could be soon useful to her family. As much as her mother and father travelled the world to gather information, Charlotte d'Assy was cruelly missing information in London or in Great Britain.

Social circles were surprisingly informative for those that knew how to use that information at the right opportunity. Amelia arrived after a long trip to Shanghai, she was welcomed by her father's cousin. It was a grand welcoming, after all, she hadn't been here since eight years ago. She barely remembered it the last time, he was kind and offered to assist her in her journey.

After Shanghai, she went to Hong Kong, the British concession was beautiful. Then she wanted more than anything to sail to the Li River. Her mother had told her many tales about this River.

Such as the legend of the White Snake that fell in love with a Daoist practitioner or the tale of the Pagoda of the Mist***. It said that it was haunted by a spirit and that his said to attack anyone trying to reach the said pagoda by fools' passage.

She wanted to see the River which dragons are said to drink in the ancient time. Amelia was more than happy. As she felt inspired, she started to play a song with her guqin****. As her fingers danced on the seven strings of the instrument. She felt the water move.

The villager jumped off the boat. She wanted to stop but her instinct old her otherwise. As she opened her closed eyes that she had closed to visualize a dragon, she saw something even more fantastic.

A myth taking life. Some from Eastern may see it as frightening but Amelia wasn't scared. She simply finished her song, the mythical creature put his head on the boat and listen to her guqin.

....

Eleven Years Later, Alois's Manor

"ASTAROTH!" Screamed the annoying prat of a minor demon Daniel.

Since the moment that his eyes landed on Amelia d'Assy. He knew that she was special. She smelled different from humans. Her cousin, Ciel Phantomhive, also had a faintly nauseous smell on him. It reeks of gods but not in the usual way that humans smell it.

As "children of God," they all had a faint remains of his mighty presence. Sebastian had gotten used to it as one that can walk among humans like Belial. This title was so exaggerated, as a Greater Demon, he too could walk among humans without being urged back to the pandemonium.

He didn't need a host like the later Prince of Hell, he walked among God's creatures for thousands of years. He simply needed a human's essence or soul to trick the eyes of God's.
