Chapter 31

The day went on until the evening, the PAW Patrol was in the hospital, in the waiting room. Some slept, others looked into space for something, others talked.

"So you're leaving tomorrow, right?" Ryder asked at Fiez looking at the ceiling thinking about the future.

Fiez looked Ryder in the eye, he knew he was like a father to Ryder, even though he had only recently known him. "Yes, we will leave tomorrow. Can't wait to go home and rest."

"I am happy to have met you Fiez, you showed me the world in a different way." Ryder said looking at Fiez with eyes full of happiness but also sadness.

"I too am happy to have met you, and to have met your friends." Fiez said stroking Rubble who slept next to him.

Ryder hugged Fiez in thanks and respect. Fiez smiled but heard Ryder cry silently.

"Why are you crying Ryder?" Fiez asked.

"I don't want to part with you Fiez. You have rebuilt my team but not like that if I am still able to lead it. Besides, you are like a father to me." Ryder said in a broken, sad voice.

Fiez broke the hug, faced a Ryder with red eyes and tears, so I decided to speak to him as an adult. "Ryder, you are now 16. You are almost an adult now, I understand that you had a difficult childhood but you have to grow up. The world is tough and you will find yourself making difficult choices, even leaving the people you care about most."

"But what if you can't do it?" 

"You will do it, you are a very good inventor and builder, this will help you in the world of work. And you have great friends dogs, cats and humans."

Ryder start to stop crying, he felt better and calmer after confide to Fiez.

"Better?"

"Better... Thanks again Fiez." Ryder said as he wiped his tears.

An hour passed and then another until a doctor arrived.

"Sirs, the visiting hours are over, you have to go out." A doctor said.

"B-but Skye? Is fine?" Chase asked.

"We are doing everything possible to help her, tomorrow we will try to wake her up." The doctor explained at the dog.

"Ryder, i can stay whit Skye for the night?" Chase asked.

"Only if the doctor agrees." Ryder replied.

"Yes, he can stay in Skye's room. But don't touch anything and don't stay too close to her. Her fur is burned, so you would hurt her."

"Thanks doctor." Ryder and Chase said.

The doctor accompanies Chase to Skye's room, after a few minutes they were in front of the room. Chase wondered what condition she was in and when she would recover.

"You can lie down next to her but be careful."

"Thanks again doctor."

"Don't worry, I'm the one who has to thank you for saving us from Humdinger." The doctor smiled at the Shepard and left.

Chase climbed into a chair beside the bed. He look at Skye sadly, she was barely breathing, was attached to the oxygen tank and had casts all over her body.

"I'm sorry Skye, if we were there before we could save. I'm sorry about your past relationship, I understand you are scared but Roy was just one who thought for himself. Other dogs are not like him."

"Just know that you are my one and only true love." Chase said leaning hir head next to Skye's.

Meanwhile the others were in a hotel reserved for homeless people.
During the night Everest unable to sleep, her thoughts were focused only on Marshall. Not being able to get out of his head the words the Dalmatian had already said.
