Mianmian took a deep breath and scrolled down through her contact list. She felt terrible and giddy at the same time. It was a shitty thing to do, but it had to be done by someone. Finally dialing, she felt relieved when her call was picked up after just one ring.

"Captain?! I need your help!" She went for a distressed tone, "can you bring Lan Zhan with you? I need his help too!"

At the end of the line, Nie Mingjue sounded worried: "what happened?"

"I'll explain when you arrive. Please hurry! I'll send you the address," was Mianmian's response.

"Of course. We'll be there!" He promised before hanging up.

Letting the guilt engulf her for a fraction of a second, she forgot about it as soon as Xue Yang asked her: "Is he coming?"

"They are on their way," was her answer.

"Perfect! My boy is on his way too. Follow me, let's get situated."

         "What do you mean?"

"I have a surveillance room. The whole farm is full of cctv cameras. We need to monitor the horses in case something happens to them," Xua Yang explained.

"Do these cameras record everything?" Mianmian asked Xue Yang. A mischievous glint appeared in her eyes.

A lazy grin became visible on Xue Yang's face as realization dawned on him. "You're fucking devious. I like you!"

"Thank you! Do you have something to drink? I'm so thirsty," she declared. She left the restaurant in a hurry to meet with Xue Yang and her food was left untouched

"I was planning on ordering some pizzas. They have a lot of shit to talk about," Xue Yang said, nonchalantly.

         "Excellent idea!" She stated.

Wei Ying rushed to the Xue Farm. Looking for his friend, he went directly towards the stables. Xue Yang told him one of his most valuable mares was about to give birth. Wei Ying had literally begged to be called to witness it, both parents were Thoroughbreds and Xue Yang was just as excited as Wei Ying was. They both had hopes for the new colt becoming a future champion.

As soon as the driver pulled over, he jumped out of the car, finding one of the groomers in his way, "where is Xue Yang?" He asked, rushedly.

"Mr. Xue is over there," the young man said, pointing towards one of the largest stables.

"Thank you!" he said and ran towards it.

He was too excited and he knew it, but he couldn't help it. In a way, he welcomed this opportune distraction from the remorse he was feeling about how he treated Lan Zhan after he apologized last night.

Soon, the figure of his best friend appeared at the entrance of the stable: "Dude! Over here!" Xue Yang said while waving his right hand.

As soon as he recognized Xue Yang he ran to him.

"Has the vet arrived? I want to talk to him," Wei Ying declared.

"He's on his way," Xue Yang said.
