"Is he always like that?" Nie Mingjue asked Wen Xu. Both of them had been seated at the back of the surveillance room, completely ignored by Mianmian and Xue Yang whose attention was fixated on the images displayed by the monitor.

"He's actually a notch calmer today," Wen Xu explained nonchalantly.

"Oh boy!" was Nie Mingjue's only response.

"What about her?" Wen Xu asked, looking in the direction of Mianmian.

"She's been obsessed with this moment for more than a year. The planning, the whining... I'm actually relieved this finally happened," Nie Mingjue declared.

"Me too," Wen Xu confessed. "A beer?" he offered. Both of them seemed to be in dire need of alcohol at the moment.

"Fuck yeah!" Nie Mingjue exclaimed, somewhat relieved. "It seems we're going to be here for a while."

"About the first kiss thing..." Wei Ying started and for a moment Lan Zhan held his breath. Maybe, he thought, it had not been the same for Wei Ying. It would make him a bit sad, but there was no one to blame but himself. Steeling himself for whatever Wei Ying was about to say, he waited expectantly.

"Yes," he said, trying to encourage Wei Ying to go on.

"Itwasnotyourfirstkiss," Wei Ying blurted out.

"Sorry," Lan Zhan apologized because he didn't understand what Wei Ying just said.

"I said it was not your first kiss," Wei Ying declared looking intently at the ground, purposely averting from Lan Zhan's eyes.

"What... I don't understand... I," Lan Zhan tried to deny, but he was still confused by Wei Ying's assertion.

"Do you remember that night when you arrived home drunk and Mianmian and Nie Mingjue had to carry you?" Wei Ying asked, visibly embarrassed.

"Well I..." Lan Zhan started, "I remember it happened. I don't remember the details about it," he confessed, blushing at the memories of that night.

"After they brought you home, I took charge at the door and helped you to your bedroom," Wei Ying confessed. "I helped you change your top, but I left your pants on you. I didn't... I wouldn't..." he left the rest of his recount hanging.

"Of course," Lan Zhan tried to put him at ease.

"I tucked you in with your pants on. Sorry about that. It must have been uncomfortable," he said, obviously digressing.

"Go on," Lan Zhan encouraged him again. He knew Wei Ying was nervous because he always rambled when it happened.

"You were asleep almost immediately and I..." Wei Ying stopped again, taking a deep breath as if bracing himself for what was to come.

"You looked so peaceful, so relaxed. Exactly how you used to look back then, when we were very close and so very beautiful, and I..." he stopped again.

Lan Zhan said nothing, expectantly waiting for Wei Ying to finish whatever he was trying to say. They had time now, there was no need to rush. Wei Ying would tell him what he needed to tell him at his own pace, at his own time.
